Table Position when travelling

I am fairly new to motorhoming. In the past I had a caravan and had to lower the fixed table for every journey. Our motorhome has a table that is fitted to the wall at one end and a leg at the other. The wall end is the standard type of aluminium L-type fitting that fits into a similar one installed on the wall securing the table in place. The question is what do people do with the table on journeys - leave it in place or take it down and stow it somewhere which of course can be inconvenient when you stop an hour or 2 later. I would like to be able to keep the table up while travelling but would appreciate some advice on how others manage? Maybe there is a better way of fitting the table in place so that it is more secure. Thanks for your help

Never remove ours unless the bed in the dinette is to be used.travelled to France, applecross, and Orkney etc never had any reason whatsoever to remove it.we even have a square of anti slip Matt with a wicker type basket sits on the table again it does not move.but I am a professional chauffeur.😳😡👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Drive it like it's stolen.

Hymer specifically state that you should not travel with the table in place. However, I have to admit that ours always stays in place as it improves the journey experience for those in the back! Yes, I am aware that it is an additional risk........

View attachment 49276Ok Steve I understand what you are saying,I travel 60-100000 miles a year in a 44 tonne artic with fluid tanks on my back (swishing)about.i travel around 20/25k in my camper a year my wife and myself only.
Here is a photo of my layout, the table where it goes onto the wall has nearly to be vertical with the window to fit onto the rail which is about three feet long.this was hymers purple edition at new for shows.i am confident to travel at the speeds I do and manner in which I drive not to remove the table.
Second scenario !what about the TVs mounted on walls, what about various objects lying around the rear, what about the cupboards that (hopefully never) in the event of a crash burst open and spray contents all over the can.
This post is not to start 36posts of rows etc all I'm stating I'm happy to travel with it in place ESP the build quality of the Hymer.i take your point and your views on board

My table can be removed in seconds and stored secure on toilet wall making it easy to strap kids in seats or should i say chain them to seats.

My table is secure but my plates and cutlery never stay where I put them no matter how carefully I drive :mad1:

Pu them in cutlery drawer and place a squire of ply or cardboard over them and elastic or curtain wire across from a hook either side of drawer.
Always tie every thing down in case you have to make a run for it.

Oh they're OK if I put them away in the drawer Trev, it's just when I set the table before I move off that they end up on the floor :raofl:

Use proper metal flatware and metal crockery, and get a magnetic table. Sorted :lol-049:

Never even considered stowing ours. Its always left up. Has been for years. That video just looks like the whole of the interior exploded. :(

Curious how long this one runs . There's another thread running (9 pages now!) about ferking foglights . Perhaps the threads should be merged ?

I would never consider fog lights on our table cause the smoke alarm goes off long before I would need em anyway the wife's cooking ain't that bad though (duck) we stow ours as it only takes seconds and we like to keep the van uncluttered but some of the big German vans have more room and if we owned one of them we would most probably leave it up !

I don't got a table. But I likes that Aussie one in post #7.

Always left the table up in my c class but since changing to a pvc I've never had the table up. It just stays in its storage position and I eat from a tray. The main reason being it's free standing and more than likely the dog would barge into it and knock over what ever I had on it.
Thinking about it I may actually remove it from the van and store it in the house.
