I'm off to Applecross for a week starting New Years eve.
I'm taking the van, but we're renting a house for the week with kids, grandkids and dogs tagging along. Nine of us in all and 2 dogs. Once we've finished our week there, who knows where we will end up!
It's a lovely place, and just a few minutes walk from the Applecross Inn, which I rather like!

Last year I had been very tempted to go up to Fraserburgh for the bells ... A geocaching meet had been arranged for Hogmanay and to see the dawn of Ne'er Day but I gave it a miss at the time ... this year I will have my van and I reckon that's where I'll be.
It's a changed place the broch, except the wimpy bar is still at the bus stance.we went twenty odd years with my folks on hols there as we had relatives up there and lonmay.
Enjoy.
I've never been particularly fond of the broch ... and peterheid ... I've always thought they looked a bit rough
Fraser has went downhill,I was gutted to see the caravan site deminished.no cp works, the shops and buildings sadly maintained, even round at mr Buchanan moaning mini lighthouse there's a museum but houses built that look like they're for incoming workers, really shocked and saddened.sign o the times mate.
Were thinking of heading to Sango Sands up in the north west again for Xmas and New Year, free camping, with toilets, water and a pub, free from November till March, and very seldom snows, no obligation, but if you run low on battery power you can have 24hours of hookup for £7 Facilities for Durness Camping and Caravanning by Beaches
Have you stayed there before, just wondering about the weather as I only have a campervan.

The site toilet/shower block is closed in the winter, but there is an Elsan point for emptying your cassette and there are also public toilets nearby.
