Does anybody have a recommendation for charger that uses the auxiliary power socket to charge small batteries.
Thanks

You can get them from Amazon, I've had a cigarette light shaped thing for years

Appreciate that there are many types available on Amazon, however I was looking for a recommendation for a particular type. I know they are quite cheap but I don't mind spending a bit more to get something which is reliable.

AA and AAA batteries

seeing as these AA and AAA batteries are only £1 for 12 in the poundshop is there really much point in having rechargeables? By the time you bought the charger, that's 2 years worth of ordinary batteries......steve bristol

You will not do better than one of these ....

i4 | Nitecore

It will cope with all Nicad/Liio/NMh and charges them intelligently (won't over charge them and will maintain them too )

I use it for charging and looking after the 18650 cells we use in our LED torches we have for exploring old mines etc .
It Doesnt come with a 12v lead BUT they are easily available by ebay OR maplin .

Frankly after using these for years I wouldnt bother with anything else .

The cheap ones are not worth the full of my ass of roasted snow, duracell or tesco batterys are the tops and some chargers will boast these, inovation do a charger for both rechargable and standard batts which works of a 12 volt transformer so you should be able to get a lead to power of cigy socket or others will work of 5v usb.

I second That

I second everything mistericeman said.
I am using same but smaller 2 battery version.
Very worthwhile investment because it saves all the hassle of trying to look after the battery condition yourself.
The 18650 's keep their charge for months when not in use so always ready.
The Nitecore charger means you can top up after each use without worrying about overcharging.

The link below is for the product but not a recommendation of the seller as I didn't buy from that particular seller.
I paid £10.89 (delivered cost) for mine last year.

It's also worth saying IF you have not tried a led torch/head torch powered by 18650 LiIo cells then you havent lived lol ....the brightness over standard bulbs and batteries have to be seen to be believed.

Couple of the ones I have ...

To help taking pictures deep underground

Plenty of cheap and cheerful options on ebay that offer daft amounts of light for less than £20

Great photos, many tks for the recommendation. I do have a cycle light and head torch that use 18650 cells and yes you can just about light up the moon!!! What you use is exactly what I was looking for. I know batteries are cheap but I like to keep stuff out of landfill.

Cheap batteries are actually quite expensive once you remember to factor in the cost of replacing the items that they have leaked into :)

And even expensive batteries (even the non-leak ones) can leak, so never keep them sitting in devices unused.
I bought a couple of the large multipack (48) Kirkland AA batteries from Costco (these are own brand, beleived to to be duracell made) and I read some poor reviews about leaking of these, so checked everything I could find which ran on AAs ..... Around 50% had leaked (and I had previously thrown away some for that reason). Removed ALL of those kirkland batteries as a precaution.
Costco refunded my money for the batteries, plus the cost of an LED torch that was no longer working (can't see Poundland doing that ;) )

Same here, had one for 2 years and it's spot on.
