As a lot of you know Janet love jewellery making, well for years we have tried, map reading lights, led torches, led head torches, extra bright led lamps fitted into the lights in the van, rechargeable desk lamps, 12v craft lamps,
Well with Janet saying this is no good I can only bead in daylight when I want to be out doing things I have designed a lamp and the total price for making it was £7.49.
Bought four car daytime running lamps from eBay £5.50 then bought a plastic basket from charity shop that fits perfectly into the roof light 49p, then got some twin cable from diy store for £ 1.50, already had the chocolate block and a 12v cigarette lighter end and about an hour with glue gun, Janet really pleased,
No heat from the LEDs is nice, one word of advice don't look at them when they are turned on.
It would be nice to see some homemade ideas on here it's not a self build van but it is something that makes a prebuilt better. Andy

Interested to know what running lamps you have, I bought a pair for a similar reason but they get very hot.

Hi sparrks, 161321822717 eBay number are the same ones I bought, they have double sided tape on the back, I removed the backing cover and accidentally touched one with my finger, I thought there was super glue on the back it hurt so much to peel it off, so far had them on for about two hours in the van ok they get very warm but not enough to worry about the tape coming unstuck, and I wouldn't say they get hot. Andy
Added; I am not sure how much wattage these would take but it can't be worse than running an inverter to get a 240v craft light to work.
