Rechargeable torches, what recomm

I'd love to invest in a good torch but I'm always losing them...they must be scattered far and wide I've lost so many! 😟

the key word is Cree, which seems to mean those incredibly bright little yellow square LEDs. i have a small torch and a bigger one, both extremely bright and both from LIDL . they both take 3 aaa batteries and last for ages, and it's easy to have a pack in a drawer, easier than waiting for a torch to charge !

Hi I use a head torch led lenser H7R.2 have 2 of them 1 in hmm and 1 for work and a spare battery had them 2 years and still going strong

I got one of these for Christmas: LED Lenser LED9405R P5R.2 Pro Torch Hard Case: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

It's chuffin' bright!! Tad over twenty-quid though lol

I have a couple of cheaper little torches - both less than £2 off Amazon or ebay lol
1 claims to have the same luminosity as the the P5R.2 above - but it doesn't come close (might do with an 18560 battery though).

WORD OF CAUTION:
There are a lot of fake 18650's on the market. They are of low quality, and potentially dangerous. A look through the Amazon reviews (particularly the lower ratings) will often highlight if they are genuine or not.

True. Most of the problems are claimed capacities though. They use a much smaller internal battery and fill the rest of it with flour and other crap...

I bought a xml cree t6 with zoom and a nice pouch with belt strap fot 6 bucks and i could light up mars with it from ebay china & it uses aa battery or there own rechargable, over a years use still going and fantastic.

Oh, without a doubt. I prefer to use the following scale:

Maglite,
Candle light,
Work torch
walking torch
f'kin bright
Light the moon

The single 18650 one is somewhere between walking torch and f'kin bright. The fenix is walking torch and the big one is moon as I said.

Yes and yes - hence my comment about supervision, and a decent charger.

Maglite? as the least bright? I have what I think is a 2w led conversion which gives a beam of several hundred meters.

I also have a wind up and it had a regargable internal battery which failed so i brought the wires out to the normal outside battery compartment and soldered them to the contacts and fitted 3 regargables ,it works fine and has a radio, one min cranking gives 1o min light or 2o min radio.
If i charge the batts on mains charger they last for a day or two before i have to crank.

Doesn't your clock restrict your view? :)

I have a similar but not rechargeable SnapOn LED version of one of these these which is always left in our car. Its an alloy one which Costco did a few years ago for £10 each. Son in law bought a batch and we got as Chrissie presents.
Batteries in that last for ages.
A rechargeable version of these would be good. Looking at the Cob versions that are similar to these but sifting out a half decent one isn't easy.

Ring do some nice ones but just inspection with no torch at the end unfortunately.
Still researching.

Budget looks to be climbing

Look at these they take some beating at this price the light output is fantastic

I bought a replacement led lamp for my old 3D cell Maglite. The light and beam output is tremendous compared to the original lamp. I prefer standard batteries over rechargeables as they give the torch some weight.
