Parking fine help

Hi just wondering if this happened to anyone else just been away and parked in the car park in Ambleside sign posted motorhomes and parked within the line but did over hang over at rear and on return had a parking ticket for £50 saying i need 2 tickets is there any point trying to contest it
 
I would have thought if you had overhung into another bay yes 2 tickets needed, but overhanging not into another parking area no, contest it.
 
Were you over hanging on a second space or over grass? Did you take any photos?
 
There should be a web address on the ticket where you should find the photos they took. If the overhang was into another bay no point in contesting.
 
No didn't take any pics because didn't even see ticket till back out of Ambleside but sure wheels all in parking space just over hang at rear plus bikes on rack there was a parkiing space behind not grass
 
you needed two ticket
i was only asking a parking atten this today he said two tickets as you stop council from getting money from other the space
 
I believe legally the fine cannot be informed if it was a private car park there is much talk on line over similar things.

My own view and position is if it was me that had done this I would morally due to pay the fine car park rules are such as to be fair to all if motor caravans keep causing problems m o 're car parks will then bar us from using them

If it was a council of national parks car park then you have little choice but to pay up. Most lake District car parks come into this category. They can set and enforce their own by laws and most car parks state that, if you infringe on a second space, you have to pay for it. privately owned car parks are something different as they don't have the backing of by Laws.
 
It may vary, but there are certainly some councils and private car parks where to get a pcn for nor being fully in the space you need to have at least one wheel fully outside the marked bay. I also remember a documentary on it a few years back where it was concluded that whilst parking with the nose/tail overhanging another bay was poor manners it didn't constitute a contravention.

Worth verifying the stated requirements for a contravention with the operator.

are you full timing like me?, if so just ignore it all. how they gonna find you?.........I have to laugh every time I go abroad, I always look back at the quayside at dover expoecting to see a whole possy of people, police, taxmen, bailiffs, you name it all waiting for the next ferry to chase me.......bit like the end of the benny hill show......steve bristol

Our MH is 7 m long thus we need 2 spaces (lengthways).
I buy 2 tickets which I put on a clipboard in the windscreen with a message saying "2 Spaces so 2 Tickets"

In Newent an attendant was on hand and he agreed this was OK.

If I were to finnd a fine notice I would take photos of the parking and the notice with the 2 tickets and contest it !

I see no problem if you are overhanging grass or the like at the rear and maybe sticking out a bit at the front..
But take care you are not likely to suffer damage from another user.

2 spaces and 2 tickets seems best !

Not very bright that reply, have you not heard of number plate recognition cameras , your vehicle must be registered somewhere as is your driving licence and Insurance documents, they WILL find you and with a much larger bill than the original fine? :anyone:
