MH storage

I have, the "footprint" is also on the deeds at land registry, clearly shows 5 buildings, 4 large on the concrete, 1 small on the field

here in ni if it has a roof the planing class it as a building ,either a dwelling house or biz use,but if only walls or footprint then its up to you to prove which in most cases is imposable so full planing may not be granted where as if the roofs on the presadent has been set for retrospect planing.
but you still require building control which is cheep and easy,i know im in the middle of it right now.

That is a fair sized extension you have got going there Trev, are massage parlours under the same planning control as dwellings?:lol-049::lol-049:

Cdp has to accept solids aswell, im gonna do a composting toilet for my own use but dont know if thats acceptable for c&cc. unfortunately the most direct route is across someone elses land for the water, and quite a long way, hence the price, assuming the other land owner allows it, if not its twice as far and involves digging along the verge of the public highway at the end of the track, then down the track itself, not going to be cheap anyway i do it i fear, isolation has its drawbacks! Ive dug down about 4' on my patch and hit groundwater so a well may be an option, and doesnt require any permissions either, im going to look into that further once im on site

A small tank could be used to hold the solids until they rot down but if you are going to use underground water then that a CDP would contaminate it. Sounds like you need to buy your neighbour a few drinks. :) There are regs for the use of ground water and rainfall catchment. I do not think you are allowed to drink it.

I cant remember where i found it but if i stumble across it again il put the link up, but i think it was enviro agency or somewhere that it said there were no restrictions on wells, on your own land, for up to 20,000 litres, per day! More than that you need a licence. Something to do with farming so it may be that there are restrictions on drinking it, but how would they enforce that?, it is good clean water too. Far as i know there are no restrictions on water catchment either, theres thousands of people with water butts in back gardens connected to drain pipes, i even know of people who have created extra "roof" areas just to catch more water, no walls, just 4 posts and some corrugated sheet on top. My concern with that method is its not very reliable, even here where we think it rains all the time!
I think im going to be buying lots of drinks!

Yes, you can catch it and store it but you cannot drink it. If for just personal use, they may find it difficult to enforce but I would get a sample sent to a lab for checking unless you are very sure what has been put on that land. As kids we used to drink from local streams but the amount of chemistry and pollutants dumped on the land would put me off now. It may only a have tiny amount of a pollutant but if you drink it daily for five years???

I read a lot of the American websites on off grid living and the Tiny house sites. They do systems for rain water collection and every day domestic usage. It's probably a glorified big butt (he,he) system with filtration and cleaning systems. Perhaps have a look at them ? After all, all our drinking water was rain before it got to the tap.

Water supply

We had h holiday in Bermuda last year ...this island has no water to speak of .... they build water storage tanks under there house and all the rain water from the roof is piped into the tank below house ... because rail water is a little acid they paint the roof with lime and it neutralises the acid in the water ....the water is then pumped into the house through a filter ..... think about the type of water you need ....rain water would be fine for w/c washing... as for electricity solar and wind should meet your requirements ...... as for having some mates over now and again with there vans not a problem ..... up to them if they give you a donation ..... if you look hard enough you can find a problem that will stop you doing anything ... keep the place tidy no one gives a toss .... JUST DO IT ..

Anglian water actually pump alot of theres from large wells direct into the aquifer. You can drink your own piss if you filter it enough! Not that il be trying that. Ive got 120L onboard tank in MH so gonna use that for drinking, obtained from a tap, then filtered ground water/rain catchment for everything else, for my own use thats gonna be ok, but i think c&cc require it to be a proper supply

I know you can always find some reason/regulation to stop you doing most things, but if you know what you definately are allowed to do it helps with the things in gray areas as you can prepare what bull your gonna give to get away with it. In reality, im gonna move on and do what i want until im stopped, and even then they are going to have to catch me red handed or im gonna deny everything. If i didnt know about the 28 day rule i wouldnt know how to argue it, as it happens, because i know, i can say i dont live there, i stay every other saturday night for one night. Your always better off if you know the likely questions and have answers prepared, stops you dropping yourself in it through ignorance of the rules
