We have a hymer coachbuilt the dinette is immediately behind the cab passenger seat. In the manual it says that the table should be safely stowed during travel. Hymer does not supply anywhere to put it. The only place really would be under the bed.
The table fits to the wall and has a single leg fastened to the table but not the floor. You lift the end of the table to releae it from the wall fitting.
In an accident or very bumpy road you could imagine the table flying around and being lethal.

when we had our bedford the table was stowed in the wardrobe with a special bracket along with the leg . totally safe couldn't become a danger in an accident ,unlike the tin stuff and knives and forks and pots and pans that might fly about like unguided missiles if the flimsy draws and cupboard doors flew open . so dont wory about the table , it could be the tin of beans that kills you when it hits you on the back of the head

My swift table is secure when in place so safe when travelling but the manual does say the table can be taken down and stowed for travelling if required. Unfortunately the manual doesn't actually tell you where to stow it.
I have looked everywhere but to date haven't found where it should go ?

i suppose that the safest place to put a table if theirs no specific place ,would be on the overcab bed if you have one ,then its not going to present any danger to any occupant in the van in case of an accident .

The Hymer manual states that the table can be stowed as you suggest. However, there is a neat recess behind the passenger seat where it sits very nicely. It stays there most of the time since I made the smaller drop down table!

Hi, For a swift Sundance the table storage is behind the drivers seat on the bulkhead -there should be a plastic channel that the table sits in and a clip at the top to hold it in place:cheers:

Table stowage solution

Wardrobe, twist clip and bracket dodahs (2 berth transit Rollerteam). The table has folding legs and is not fixed to the floor when in use. It is cumbersome, heavy and could quite easily stop a shell in a siege situation. We are replacing it with a lighter plastic camping table which gives us more space in the WD.

In the cupboard specifically designed for it ( tall and thin ) in the kitchen unit with a good catch / lock on the door :hammer:

Cheers, will check it out this morning.

alternately - create a fixing device where the table itself attaches to the wall....... then you can leave it up all the time if you want to.

My van also has nowhere to store the heavy table in transit, other than if I use it as a bed base, so I leave it up most of the time.

Ours is screwed to the floor, it swivels and slides but is till a pain to walk round when not being used.
We have tried unscrewing it and storing it at home, and placing a free standing camping table in its place.
This worked really well and we stored the camping table in the shower cubicle, which is utilised as a large wardrobe with plastic drawer units, so there is room to securely wedge the table behind kit.

those heavy tables with the cumbersome steel legs should be binned, horrible awkward things.
Go Outdoors has neat lightweight aluminium tables that probably wouldn't hurt much if they did bounce off your bonce

Depends which Swift Sundance you have, ours is an 03 and it stows away in the wardrobe, too big so it stays in there most of time and we use a smaller plastic one, fits nicely between the seat and cabinet (rear lounge), when travelling. On another note they don't have anywhere (except laid on bed) to stow the ladder, so we fixed a velco strap next to door, works a treat.

I looked in the wardrobe but there is no strap or similar so I reckon it doesn't go there. To be honest it would be a chew on anyway as its full of jackets etc and access would be difficult.
My ladder for accessing the overcab bed stores under the bed on clips, surprised yours isn't similiar. I usually leave mine up as it stops the dog getting on the cab seats.

ours is an 07 630L and yes we also have the large table for the lounge with 2 sets of fold up legs which is stored in the wardrobe-but like yourselves we found it too bulky and clumsy to use to leave it at home and use a much smaller portable table -just the 2 of us:D

For our ladder this is stored under the lift up overcab bed -there are clips at the rear to hold it in position

Just checked my Swift Sundance 594RS 2013.
Will not go in the wardrobe and no strap or channel for it to go behind the drivers seat against the wooden bulkhead for want of a better description. It will slide in there but no straps or similiar.
Handbook very vague, store in transit position, manual is generic covering all models so not a lot of use.
May email Swift technical department for their advise out of curiosity.

We never use the table which came with the MH, which is stored in the wardrobe as we found it was a pain in the arxe to take it out and use and then it was always in the way. To solve that problem I bought a round swivel table and fixed the supplied bracket to the seat bulkhead behind the passenger seat. the plate on the under side of the table i refixed it off centre and find that we have a table which is now elongated by turning it around. and is never in the way as we always keep it up. Bought from O,Leary,s

Ive got one of those. Light, and hangs up on the wall on 2 hooks in the cloakroom in transit stowed out of the way and folds flat enough not to be a nuisance.

We can plonk it in front of the sofa and swivel chairs for eating off or plonk it outside if its nice.

You seem to like your plonk..
