Couple of mths ago I became the proud owner of a Roadtrek 190 Versatile on a Dodge base, :drive::drive::drive: driving back from London it proved to be a little more thirsty than I had anticipated, mind you due to road works and being after midnight I ended going up hill and down dale, only averaging 15mpg (2001 5.2L V8) I have since had fitted Hydrogen assist, and will report on this as and when I have run a few miles.
It is in the coach-builders at the moment having a Turny Orbit seat fitted.
Through lack of use (43000miles in 13years) I have found a few problems, 1 of the Hab battery's has a duff cell the other seems OK but I haven’t stretched it (both original) and the engine battery not holding its charge for long, replaced with a good one I had but lower Ahr.
Where I live I am very restricted for access due to a neighbors bungalows eves jutting out over the narrow drive and the Roadtrek will just fit!
Any comments, advice etc all gratefully received.

Many Thanks

Good luck and happy travels with your new van.

Some photos would be nice. :drive:

Good luck as above but if you want advise, you need to ask a direct question. Answers should hopefully be more productive :)

We hired a similar van in Canada back in 2000, seemed well screwed together, realy liked the twin side doors, but had little room for passengers feet, and was very thirsty. 15mpg sounds about right.

I have been looking for the right Roadtrek for a long time now and ended up buying a Swift Mondial RL but would swop straight away for the right Roadtrek. I would be happy with 15mpg and get lpg fitted. Is the 15mpg shown on the van computer, don't forget US galls are smaller than Imp galls. Have you been on Roadtrek they have all the original brochures and specs listed. Enjoy.

Good luck with the new motor.

Have you thought about LPG conversion?

I did think about it but was put off:
1 By cost
2 Loss of storage due to another Tank being fitted, no space left spare under vehicle.

I was also told about Hydrogen assist and though I would give that a go, it's too early to tell what gains on MPG if any, but I noticed the increase in torque immediately.

Its a 2001 model year, if the computer giver an mpg readout I don't know how to access it! :rolleyes2: all my MPG calculations were done by fill up to fill up and then working out according to mileage (odometer in Klm) :D

Have you thought of having it 'mapped' for economy?

Thank you for that suggestion, I must admit I hadn't though of that, I will see how I get on with the Hydrogen assist, the battery went flat, so disconnected to re charge it, and on board computer went back to basics and has to relearn everything, it looks like that can take up to 500miles.
I will keep it in mind and do some research.
