While we were away in France earlier this month we had one or two mechanical problems, it made me think what tools do you take in the van.
I carry:
set of allen keys
assorted spanners
Mole grips
a couple of screw drivers
assorted fuses
Tie Wraps
Electrical Tape
Stanley Knife

I need to add
Multi meter
assorted jubilee clips

What does everyone else carry

A mobile phone and membership to a breakdown recovery company is top of my list, but I do carry screwdrivers etc just in case

few odds and ends and a socket set,but one thing i noticed was missing from your list- a good towrope !. if you get bogged down or need a pull for some reason, you're never far from a tractor. a truly vital bit of kit

Hi should have added tow ropes I have 2 also forgot I have Jump leads and mats for the wheels if we get stuck

almost all the tools I own....

Socket set
full spanner role
spanner and socket set
screwdrivers

wire cutters
multi meter
selection of hammers
length of electrical cable
axle stands
trolly jack
pillar jack
air cushion jack
tow ropes
straps
shackles
solid towing bar
towing carabineers
full torx male and female set
allen keys
knives (Stanley and folding etc)
wood saw
hacksaw
zip ties
insulation tape, parcel tape, gaffa tape
jump leads
portable booster pack x2
hardwired jumper leads

Joys of Landrover ownership......

Breaker bar, got caught out with overtightened wheel bolts on car once. Never again, nearly gave myself a hernia, small tool kit, duck tape, cable ties and believe it or not my tried and trusted Swiss champ army knive, use it all the time.

Got 3 years RAC with motorhome, hopefully will never have to use it.

Large selection of spanners, sockets, breaker bar, gas soldering iron and shrink tubing, multimeter, electrical terminals and crimper, gaffer tape, jubilee clips, jump leads, tow rope, snow chains, tyre sealant, compressor and a laptop with multiecuscan and assorted connections for scanning Fiats

The one thing that you left at home. In my case it was a bottle of Kseal last time. :)

Halfords socket set, which includes spanners and screwdriver bits, electrical crimpers and terminals, duct tape, jump leads and booster battery and breakdown cover, will add a tow rope after reading this thread.

A long long time ago I owned a citroen BX (I still get nightmares), as a result I tend to carry spanners, sockets screwdrivers etc etc etc out of habit. ratchet straps come in useful when a door falls off, as mine did. First big meeting with my new employer, I pull up on site with the driver door lashed on via the sunroof and proceed to climb out of the passenger side. I'm not a mind reader but i'm sure they thought - "hmm, he seems like the classy sort we need here":lol-053:

spare wire, fuses etc too.

puncture repair kit (plug type), tow rope, jump leads, jack etc.

Most of what I carry is already listed, soft ground mats made from rescued bread baskets - 6 in total! Bottle Jack and a number of wooden blocks each about 150mm square and 50mm thick, electric compressor, bag containing two triangles, tow rope, spare bulbs, fuses, etc, bike toolkit, foot pump for bike.

I had a BX19, 16v.with full body kit, best car I ever had. Used to take it to France, stop at service stations and French guys would drool over it.

Carry lots of tools in the van, didn't need any in my BX as it was always broken down so didn't go anywhere.

Mobile phone to contact the breakdown service.

Oh yes, this new van of mine has a jack. managed for 5 years without one with the last van.

I sometimes wonder if people worry too much.

My vans only 20yrs old this year and well maintained by an excellent hairy arsed fitter so don't need tools !! But just in case !!
