i know it sounds obvious,for some people can't get their heads round it, but pretty much every where you might go there are shops,garages ,cafes etc.-even in foreign places ! so you don't need to stock up like you're off to the Pole. there's even nice people who'd give you a hand ! so dive in and start having fun -travel and talking to strangers keeps you sharp !

I have my Kindle but I always keep a couple of spare books to loan to visitors when we want some quiet time, which I swap when I get to a charity shop

Oh and the dog gets upset if I leave him behind :dog:

And ninja spray for wilding :ninja:

After 15 years and 350,000km.......I had to have a good think....

A good head torch, plus a spare......

Good tools

Binoculars - I didn't know how much I used them until I lost them!

We do 90% wild camping, so I carry special manhole tools and rubber gloves.....

Also a complete set of water tap adapters and a long hose. Same for electrics - I have all the adaptors and a 50 metre reel.

I converted to refillable gas bottles a few years back, and it's been great, but you have to plan your fillups depending on which country you are in.

We like to stay in one place quite often, so we have lots of battery power and a good solar panel.

I finally found a small Honda suitcase generator on Ebay at a decent price.....have only used it once or twice a year, but every time it's been a life saver.

And finally - I am a technology fan. My GPS is stuffed full of POI's and the first thing I do in a new country is get a local data sim card. I use Google earth to zoom into wild camping spots - it's absolutely brilliant. My Macbook Pro is the only thing I would save in a fire!

I use my sat nav pretty much all the time, even when I know where I am going, lol.
Just a handy tool. Gives so much info.

must admit re- satnav,that i only got one a few months ago ,off ebay with no instructions,so i'm probably suffering from '' old fart wary of new thingies'' syndrome ,and i also childishly resent being told what to do by a young Irish girl,especially as she keeps saying ''turn around at the first opportunity'' !

I used to be very anti satnavs, until I had one bought for my birthday. Now I must confess I really enjoy it! We don't follow it religously, but imput where we want to be that night, but not set it until late in the day, so we can just wander round until its time to get parked up, and then just press the button and let IT do the work.
We also have a 120w solar panel to keep the leisure batteries on constant charge, and lastly we have converted our gas bottles to the 'gas-it' refillable type, which has saved an absolute fortune by not paying for bottle exchanges. In Luxembourg a few weeks ago, the cost of gas equated to about 46p per litre, in this country it tends to be approx 65p to 73p, much much cheaper than bottled gas.
Glad you're enjoying the site, they are a grand bunch of loveable nutcases, with more collective knowledge than you can shake a stick at!
