It appears that contractors hired to clear contaminated sand have either by design or accident ripped down the height barrier at Huttoft car terrace.

I was there yesterday ,Sun.30th March and the barrier was missing ,but I understood it was ripped down on purpose ,but I cant see the council backing down on this one ,I think they hate us.

I think so too :)

It would be interesting to find out by f.o.i at a later date, just how much has been spent/invested/wasted on this project by the local council paid for, by the good people of Skegness. No doubt most of the costs disguised in different budgets, such as clearing contaminated sand for example.

I'm sure you are correct, However they don't seem to hate us when we stop at the campsites that are owned by Councillors their Spouses or their Friends. Selective discrimination me thinks.

The only thing that makes me think it was not a pre-planned act is that the uprights are still standing and the other barrier (left hand side as you enter) is still intact surely if you were intent on removing the barrier with a JCB you would make a proper job of it and knock the lot down.

Just seen this on the other website.

The litter bins have also been removed apparently. Why would they need to remove the bins if they are only sweeping the sand back on to the beach, and why knock down the barrier at night / early morning if they are legitimate contractors working for Lincolnshire County Council?

These councillors don't seem to realise that if we can't park our vehicles in the sea front car parks we won't be visiting Lincolnshire so we won't be using their campsites either!!

Spiolt for the rest of us by the inconsiderate few who basically made there home there.!

I really don't think it was the long timers there that caused the problem. The ones that I met cared a lot about the place and looked after it. It was the weekender's with no respect for the place, the people or the environment that caused most of the problems.

Most people who came for the weekend did exactly that, then went home, and from what i know took all there rubbish with them. Then there were the car driver's who came and left loads of rubbish, but they went home. Unfortunately you can put all different kinds of slants on the wise and whare for's of who did what, but people where living there some on a permanent basis, some for weeks/months at a time. When they stayed at Mogg's eye, and where given notice of why there were height barrier's going up, they just up stick's and went to Huttoft, well sure as eggs is eggs, the same thing was gonna happen there, twas just a matter of time that's all.!
I think Huttoft has been debated on here quiet a few times, just look for the threads.!

If you need to stop somewhere for several weeks, find a site!! I'm sure some of the farm sites would do a deal for several weeks.

That is such a good point

I actually visited Huttoft today in my car (motorhome still on SORN for another month).

There is no sign of any sand having been swept back on to the beach, but there were two workers there doing surveying type work with those flying saucers on poles devices!

I also witnessed a car with three or four young people in it and their stereo playing that thump, thump, thump type noise they seem to like, drive away leaving a pile of take-away wrappers on the floor. :mad1:

The actual height barrier is on the floor and the top of one of the columns has been broken off to get the cross bar out, so whatever did it was heavy duty because the cross bar and column are substantial pieces of steel and concrete that would have inflicted severe damage to a motorhome if one had tried to ram it!!

I don't know what Lincolnshire County Council are planning for Huttoft but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't close it off indefinitely and just let the sand dunes reclaim the area!

Thanks for the update however the litter you mention will no doubt have been left by motorhome owners as we are the only people who leave litter, light bonfires and threaten the locals as far as i can gather.

i think it a great place to go with the kids :)

It will be as long we can still actually get on there with our vehicles!!

I have seen it jam-packed on a hot sunny day and the beach and shallow water are ideal for kids.

If the height bar goes back up at the height it has been set at, ( 1.8metre / 6ft ), even people carriers will have difficulty getting under it, and no chance if they have a roof rack or box fitted. All of which are normal accessories on a vehicle with a family on holiday!!

But..........at least the drug users, boy racers and doggers now have plenty of room to go about their "business" so that's all right isn't it! :scared: :scared:

Height barriers are such a draconian measure and typical council measure . Punish all because of a few lets ban all cars next because someone hits a tree. This great country not is but already has been destroyed by out political system both at national and local level

How about a compromise........the barrier in use at this location and many similar locations (remote), only closed at the height of the season, say June until September.

The height barrier will then have two meanings

Just seen on, "the other forum" there is a news cutting from the Mablethorpe Leader newspaper, one of their councillors is talking about closing it off altogether!!

But........."apparently" the council has been approached by someone who wishes to buy the golf course and convert it into a static caravan park, which of course means they would require their "private" beach frontage.

All I can say is draw your own conclusions, Mammon appears to have spoken!!
