I fitted a wireless one the other day, got it of ebay cost £48 90 including postage, the 7 inch screen fits over your internal mirror. Fitting was quite easy, may be a job for the fix it meet lol.

I put my screen on the back of the sun visor and it folds out of sight.i didn't bother connecting to the reverse, just wired it in and switch on when I need it. bonus is I can put it on anytime without changing gear

yep that would be usefull as rear veiw ,mirror is slightly obscured and would give me some idea of whats about Nigel do want to to repair my tables please when i get some wedge they looking a little worse for wear the edging strip is coming unglued and the gas bottles need securing with a holder so will get some of the otherwise they rattle

I have the older type that looks like a small tv on the dashboard
Does the job great

camera

I have a fairly large one on the dash board which folds down, and I put a teddy on top of when not in use. Its wired in and I can drive with it on. My ex partner used to like driving with it on sometimes to help with the traffic behind. But ive never been happy with it. I don't know if the wrong camera was installed or something, but I cant see the end corners of my van, only directly behind me, so its a bit useless really.

seeing behind is useful, but I prefer to have mine pointed at my towbar and step, which I have painted white for visibility day or night, and can reverse to touching distance of the motor or wall behind

I have no rear view other than wing mirrors so need the camera for tail end charlies. I wired mine to the ign so it is always on, as a rear view mirror would be. I didn't buy a wireless one for fear of interference from other wifi/ Bluetooth auto doors etc etc.

Fitting was a doddle as it came with the correct sized hole cutter & all the leads were plug & socket. Cost around 50quid total & it got me a 40 quid discount on my insurance so now in profit!

I got a small scree (3.5") next time I would go bigger & have 2 cameras, a rear view & the roof down for close quarters reversing. may well add a second camera on the roof looking down anyway, but I wouldn't be without my "rearview mirror".

Oh, yes, it works just as well at night due to IR capability & IR lights. Low sun direct on the camera can be an issue, but not that often.

I have fitted a couple recently. I have a double camera, with a 7" screen, the type that fits flush with the dash.

It could be used in conjunction with a dvd player, as it has two inputs.
I have fitted two cameras, one to see the back of the vehicle, and the other for a rear view mirror, as I have no rear windows.

I have the option of which camera to show when driving forward, but have linked it to the reverse light so I can only see the back of my vehicle when reversing.
I have also fitted this same system to JTs van without the reverse switch, so he has the option of which camera he would like showing.
Can't remember the link now but bought the systems off ebay, chinese, but so far have worked ok. Look for dual reversing cameras.

How's the wireless? is the reception good?[/QU

Only been out once with it yet had it on permanent and found it very good

Went through town and industrial estate never lost picture at all. I have fitted the camera quite low down and it seem ok getting a very good overall view, may fit another camera up high so will then have a choice.

Hi Barry

I've just fitted a dual camera system to mine, one camera works as a rear view mirror and the other as a reversing camera showing just the 6/8 foot behind when reversing. The monitor is 7 inch and just clips on the mirror so to the average Scrote, nothing to see. Works really well, it's brilliant having a rear view mirror without a rear window.

Fitting was a bit of a pain but everything is concealed and I ran the majority of the cables underneath the van. Total cost was £160 but well worth it in my opinion. Plus £40 of my insurance every year.

I bought it at the Carmarthen Show but I've seen them at other shows. They'll probably be at Malvern. Let me know if you want a link and I'll dig it out.

I think I will get one of these ...I struggle to park the van on my road as sometimes I have to park in between cars. So what with the heavy steering and the lack of space it can become a bit of an ordeal :rolleyes2:
Thanks Dave and Mary another item to put on my list

Just one thing to remember Hippy, I have see a lot of things ( not just cameras ) for sale at shows but you can get the same thing of eBay or other places a lot cheaper as they do not have the overheads and paying site rents .
