I'd like to join in but a flying saucer has just landed in the field next to us.

Hi Edina,

I think you have cracked it.

It was Elvis returning from his alien abduction and reappeared in the vans shower. Nicked a few quid to keeping him going on his trip down the Yellow Brick Road to Atlantis.

Gassing

This was doing the rounds in the trucking industry in the 70's when I first started trucking out there,in all that time I never met one driver who had been a victim, I met a few who had a freind of a friend of a friend who had,but even today there are people around who think it actualy happens.
This is one of those many stories that seem to be "a friend of mine" or "I heard". It was going the rounds of the trucking community 10 years ago, but I never met a victim, but couldn't get on a ferry without being told to watch out for the bogey man.

We were broken into in France whilst we slept in the van at night. We had two very small Yorkshire Terriers on the bed with us. Surely had we been gassed then that amount if gas would have killed the dogs.

The gas that is often said to be used, easy start, would have stunk your van out for a week afterwards.

I take it you are referring to the Theatre siege?

The Spetznatz special alpha team were extremely successful in their mission, Having neutralised the terrorists.

What actually happened, was the rescue service support teams believed the theatre was booby trapped with devices on a time delay so it was important to evacuate the hostages with utmost expedience

Quite simply the 100 or so that died were placed on there backs outside the theatre and choked on a mixtrure of vomit and obstruction of the airways, Had they put people in the recovery position there is a good chance that no one would have died.

The "Gas " in effect had no bearing on the fatality outcome, the mistakes made by the rescue services caused the loss of life....Alpha team did their job, In quick hit hard and out...it was the follow up where things went wrong.

They used a mixture of two agents, both of which stop you breathing. Going semiprone may have helped in some cases but most will still have died without Naloxone and respiratory support. They would have been at greatest risk of inhaling their own vomit when they went to sleep. That is why someone presses on your neck as you go to sleep if you have an anaesthetic within a period of six hours of last eating.

By neutralised I am guessing you mean killed.

My original point was that if gassing was occurring then many of the victums would die without immediate specialist help as it would be impossible to get the dose right. Something the Russians proved by the wide range of effects they produced in their victims. Some died, some walked away seemingly almost unaffected by the gas.

You just can't seem to please some people!

We hear so many campervan owners saying how much they worry about being burgled, but when the burglers (very considerately if you ask me) go to the trouble of anaesthetising them so they can avoid some of the trauma, they're still not happy!! :sleep-027::):)

I've got the NBC suit, used to sneak up on bunnies with it :ninja: but now use it when grovelling under vehicles - best overalls I ever had, completely oil, mud & waterproof!
