I'm not taking sides nor casting any blame on any one person, but one of the things that exasperates me sometimes is when people post an opinion, fair enough, but then they or others continually repost the same opinion over and over again every time when someone else posts an alternative opinion or the original poster attempts to justify their opinion. This ends up becoming counter productive, as even if that person is posting sound advice or a fair opinion, the frustration caused by having it repeated, certainly for me, simply gets my back up and I end up disregarding that opinion as it is monopolising a thread, and may prevent less confident or more sensitive members from posting an alternative opinion.
And as far as opinion is concerned, we are all correct, as an opinion is a belief, not a fact.
And for those who say that people shouldn't be so sensitive, well perhaps in an ideal world, people wouldn't be but no one knows what life experiences people have had which may have affected their self confidence, or their ability to shrug off what they may see as criticism.
And certainly, if someone has made the effort to post with good intentions in order that other people may not make the same mistakes as they have, I don't feel that they should be criticised for doing so. Instead perhaps they should be thanked for the warning.
Any supplier of goods which they do not manufacture themselves cannot guarantee 100% satisfaction, and the reputable suppliers will welcome feedback, even negative feedback, so that they can then avoid suppliers of dodgy goods themselves. It seems to me that in this case, the ebay seller has been very fair and it would not be right for them to be blacklisted on a forum such as this which has enormous buying power, for a genuine problem with a dodgy manufacturer.
And any way at the end of the day, it is dave and mary's personal choice about what they post, and reading through the thread, it seems to me that some of the posts on this subject have caused them distress. Considering the hassle they've had with the lights, to have additional distress as a result of simply trying to help others seems very unfair. And you never know, sometimes what seems to be a minor thing to one person, may be the straw that breaks the camel's back for another.
Just my opinion, not necessarily factually correct, and this isn't a personal attack on anyone. I just think people should give dave and mary a bit of a break.
