It shows that I have a lot to learn.
I have only had 1 trip out in my new motorhome and I have driven by a lot of these stopovers in Scotland. My journey over 3 nights was:-
From Glasgow to Pitlochry, Aviemore, Inverness (Culloden overnight). 2nd day, a visit to Fort George where we joined Historic Scotland then back to Inverness for a meal. Across Kessock bridge, then up to Ullapool via Garve. Drove back down A835 to A832 and then round to wildcamp in lay-by near Aultbea. (Another motorhome drew in behind us and also camped overnight.) They introduced themselves in the morning and told us that they had just bought their wagon from Germany. (I believe they were from Yorkshire they had 2 young sons with them).
From there we continued through Gairloch down A832, through Kinlochewe and onto A896 through Glen Torridon (what a beautiful place) and then down the side of Loch Carron to Auchertyre.
We were going to continue home but we said "what the hell" and we turned right and drove round Skye. Again we wildcamped overnight near Dunvegan Castle. Weather was really wild!
Left early in the morning and drove home to Glasgow via Invergarry, Spean Bridge, Fort william, North Ballachulish, Crianlarich, Loch Lomond and Dumbarton.
I realise now that although we had a great trip we tried to do too much at once.
So from now on, I'm going to try these little places "off the beaten track" that I have found on various forums.
I hope I haven't bored anyone to tears with this post.
Happy journeys to all.
hey new rover, are you trying to cover the world in a week.
slow down, take it easy, reading your trip you passed
(I say PASSED some great places on your trip)
some of the places you mentioned would take days to appreciate
like pitlochry for one
did you visit these
the highland folk museum http://www.highlandfolk.com/
the dancing waters http://www.waltzingwaters.co.uk/newtonmore/newtonmore-home.html
there's many reasons to hang around at some of the great
