It wasn't all that long ago when I posted about the Xmas markts in Germany when a few of you jumped down my throat saying I was "too early" well the time is looming towards us. We shall be heading out on the 15th Dec from Hull - Zeebrugge ferry and 1st stop at Valkenburg (NL) then to Aachen and following the Belgium border to Wittlich, Trier, Bernkastel-kues and back up for Monschau (Monschau only at the week-end) no doubt emptying the Germans fridge's as we go. Currywurst, pommes mit mayo will be the staple diet for the week swilled down with pils and apfelkorn MMMmmmm ...... what will you "poor people" be doing ?

I'll be eating my Christmas dinner on the beach near Almeria - feel free to pity me! :lol-053:

MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm let's think:D

8th - daughters wedding :cool1:

14th - our wedding anniversary:heart:

After..................I have an unopened bottle of Apfelkorn (cloudy one) - I may open it here just to join you.................

:have fun:

The other option we have is to go to the Harz mountains to see some real snow stopping off at Hameln (rat-town), nothing funnier than putting my fat ass on a tobogan and letting rip down a mountain (as my wife will tell you) -20c kind of gives you an appitite and your eye lids are closing by 9pm ... great feeling.

All you folks, where ever you go and what ever you do. Have fun. Me!! Hamburg for Christmas with my kids and grand children. Jan 2nd to 31 March, Goa, India. Doctors orders (I helped with his decision☺☺) Got the okay yesterday. Sorry JH, Almeria, maybe next time.☺☺. Have a nice one buddy. ☺☺

We will give Christmas Markets in Germany a miss this year and go skiing instead.

I must say the xmas markt run is a great way to spend xmas, we don't give each other expensive, useless gifts at xmas but enjoy each other's company drinking German beer breathing in the crisp fresh air, we're a bit surprised not many others doing the same ?

The motorhome is normally struggling to get off the ferry when we return, loaded with crates of German beer, cheap wine, apfelkorn, sausages, coffee (from Luxemburg) and of coarse some German fresh white eggs (very tasty).
Also like to pick up some cans of Bitburger from Lid'l in Belgium @ 60cents a 1/2 ltr can, to return to a great Christmas.

well as you know Zip, me awld frankfurter im working, but you wont be going without us next year,
and i,ll have new snow tyers, cant wait.

Anyone else going that way ? ie.... valkenburg(NL), Aachen (D), Bernkast-kues (D), Trier (D), then last day at Monschau (D) near Belgiun border ready to return to the UK

Save some money, come to the German Christmas Markets at Winchester and Southampton, we were at both today , very well done and authentic as genuine Germans running the stalls, great Bratwurst on sale and German Ales, and of course all the Tat you get at these Markets, you won't need Winter Tyres or Euros here and the sun is actually shining here today.

Mayflower Park, Mayflower Roundabout, Southampton - Google Maps Hi David and Ann, The Markets are on right up to Christmas, we have Ice Rinks as part of the Markets too, The best time to visit, well that will depend on how crowded you like your Markets, today it was pleasant to walk around, Saturday will be very busy, you can park your van at Mayflower park, see map, it is a short walk into central Southampton, right at the water side where you will see Cruise ships and Container ships sail, next to the Isle of Wight Ferry Terminal, the Southampton Market is in the high street where all the major shops are and of course West Quays ,our new Shopping Mall, parking at Mayflower Park [ where the Mayflower sailed from ] is cheap only 75 p for two hours but you have to buy 2 hour slots, so will need to return to the Park and put more money in but a good excuse for a coffee and rest your legs Winchester has a Park and Ride, well signed and spaces for Motorhomes or you can park at the old Cattle Market where there are parking Places for Motorhomes, I will post a link after posting this, Winchester Market is at the Cathedral, in the grounds, lovely setting ,Enjoy Malc.
