Occasional flickering picture sometimes no picture.
I'm assuming bad connection somewhere ?
Any advice on where to start welcome

I have two, one facing back and one facing down. The down one is fine, but the back-facing one has scan lines, and the picture quality varies a lot, I thought it might be a duff suppressor, but even engine off, it's bad, but I rarely use it as I have the door mirrors which cover most of my needs.

Hi Alcam
Had a similar problem recently with my cam with water ingress. Dismantled and dunked the internals in Isopropyl Alcohol for a couple of days Removed and allowed to air dry and re assembled and sealed and now works fine again.

Cheers for that . Was reasonably sure I'd have to start at camera end . No excuse now !
I will update as soon as , variety of reasons (excuses) for delay in doing this for a a week or 2

Sometimes my camera plays up, when I say plays up, flickering, screen goes blank. I have an option one and two button on the screen body that I view, sometimes I click one, then two, image returns as normal. Sometimes I turn off the screen completely, then on again, image returns as normal.

Your camera may be fine, it could be the screen you view that could be the issue?

I switch my setup on manually, not when engaging reverse gear.

Could be but screen ok for all the other stuff . It's an all singing Pioneer doo dah .
Do think I should start at camera end (see post 3) , hopefully it will be that simple

Ah ok I understand, my viewing screen only purpose is to view rear view camera when switched on.

What you're seeing could be caused by several things.
Low voltage.
Bad connection.
Condensation.
And because the signal is encoded it could be interference too.
There's usually a plug and socket connector about 1/2 a metre away from the camera. If you come across it then try wiggling it around (I mean the connection matron) and see if the image remains stable.

No idea for certain but ask yourself "What's the easiest way to get from the camera to the dash" That'll almost certainly be what they chose. Are you certain it's hard wired and not wireless?

Pretty sure it's hard wired . Based on absolutely nothing !
As I said will give this some serious attention as soon as .
Got an insurance repair coming up this month . Got hit broadside in Durham services carpark a few weeks ago

They always play up somewhere, on my last 2 vans it was water ingress to camera itself. all hard wired. The New Motorhome was the Italian manufacturers crossed over couple of plugs/sockets in the head unit so one didn't work i found out and fixed .

They normally go via top lockers, across the top of the cab door and down the A pillar, mine is one of the mirror-mounted ones, so it goes above the screen via the headlining.

The all singing Pioneer unit is fitted on top of dashboard.
Just remembered it was fitted by Marquis not Benimar . I'm sure that has nothing to do with it playing up !
