Bit of an alarming call tonight around 8:30pm. The consultant called Michelle and they want her in ASAP to operate on her kidney stone issue. Seems odd that its suddenly now so urgent. I suspect the consultant has only just got to see her scans which is a disgrace if true. We are away in the van right now.

Long and the short is we might have to go tomorrow or possibly over the weekend where she will be admitted. One idea is to go to a CL near to James Cook hospital which is south Middlesbrough. She might be in a while.

Typically search for sites is down and I am not currently a C&MC member. There is an Aire nearby on a busy road but this one might be better.

If anyone is a member can you see if you can get me the telephone number please?

Can't help with the CL stuff, but I understand that kidney stones are a relatively easy thing to fix these days, so hopefully Michelle will get sorted and be back out quickly.

Just keep a sharp eye on the medics and don't take any cr*p from anyone at the Cook.
Make sure you get the full lowdown from whoever is doing the op, no ifs, buts or maybes, you want the full facts before any procedures start! 😈💪👍

Good luck and everything crossed for Michelle. 🤞🤞 🤗

More likely they need to improve their stats Barry .

Its all a bit fluid at the moment. There was a call from the hospital just now again suggesting we come down now. Well that just isn't possible. So they are going to hopefully call tomorrow now. Neither of us are convinced anything will happen over the weekend now so I think we are going to head home and take it from there. If they do call over the weekend we can be there within the hour. On the other hand if they don't and we end up waiting well into next week we could be stuck on a CL near Middlesbrough wondering what is going on.

Difficult to know what to do for the best.

The CL owner was most accommodating though. Farmer.

Its been going on for over a month this. Long story short. She took ill about six weeks ago, had loads of tests and her left kidney function was down to 21% which is very close to failure and dialysis. She had a scan and they found a 1cm stone blocking her Ureter. So stuff was backing up and damaging the left Kidney. It was marked as URGENT but we heard nothing for weeks. She recovered and further tests showed a 57% function which is almost in the normal range. So off we went away assuming we might hear something so we never went far. All of a sudden the deadline of the 4th of June comes around and its action stations and come in straight away.

My gut feeling is the hospital in Darlington dragged its feet over this and the consultant who called us just last night at 8:30pm has only just seen the results. Not good enough if thats the case.

You might be right Barry. Is it not the case they've introduced a policy of doing procedures over the weekend now ? Maybe just jockland .
What is parking situation at the hospital?

Not sure but it sounds like it. They told her there was a long waiting list but she was top of the list. Anyway we are home now and busy getting stuff sorted. If she gets the call in the morning I think its less than an hour from here to James Cook. 30 minutes if I take her on the big bike. That might shift the stone anyway!

Thanks for all the help and advice.

Your choice of course but if it was me and it's that serious I would be at the hospital. You can decide what to do once she is admitted and you know more.

Hope everything goes well whatever you do

Good luck to her, hope it all happens efficiently now the consultant has got involved. I am sure you will keep everyone up to date. Must be a worry getting a call like that!

They did nothing for a month despite Michelle pestering them and despite it marked as Urgent. The staff at Darlington didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. Then all of a sudden its action stations and can you come now. They wanted her there within the hour but it just wasn't possible. She has been fine though for the last four weeks. She has been off walking miles every day. She was quite ill about six weeks ago which is how it all got started but recovered on her own. I'm assuming its not gone away though and is still stuck blocking her left kidney.

I would have kicked up more of a fuss four weeks ago but she didn't want to do that.

Sounds like the call for immediate attendance might have been a cancellation.
Hopefully all will be resolved soon.
Best wishes for a speedy resolution and recovery.

Davy
