I do have a problem, but not life threatening.

After an hour with an eye specialist this morning I now know what is causing the problem. Apparently it's caused by something in my left eye nerves and muscles and it will recover, in fact it's better today. Now the fun part. when we arrived last night I asked my wife to watch me into a gap between two trees, instead of which she backed me into a tree, removing what was left of the rear vent, luckily the one over the shower.

This morning I was advised not to drive, not told and the specialist told me that although she had to advise me not to drive, I wouldn't be breaking the law, but I decided to ring Adrian Flux recovery, only to be told that my policy only covered mechanical breakdown, DESPITE ME ASKING SPECIFICALLY IF IT COVERED DRIVER ILLNESS OF ACCIDENT.

I had asked for a reason, because my wife can't drive, so on Monday I shall be on the phone to Adrian Flux and would suggest that anyone else who has a recovery policy with them takes a good look at it.

I was faced with the decision of either paying a small fortune to get recovered or driving back, so I drove, based on the fact that the specialist agreed that although she had to advise me, based on my having driven long distances in France using one eye, there was no real reason not to.
My vision is perfect and it's only the co-ordination that's a problem, so with one eye open and leaving 100 yards between me and the car in front there isn't really a problem and we're taking the pretty way back, stopping in the Cotswolds tonight.:D

Bushterkker, hope everything sorts out for you! You need some good luck:(

That won't help.

Oh yes, you ought to get your better half to get her eyes checked as well ;-)[/QUOTE]

She is partially sighted and has just been registered blind, which is why I am so pissed off with Adrian Flux as I needed that cover and have it on my car. In the event my decision to drive north to the ferry has been vindicated

wish you well bushtrekker if it had been me think i would have disabled camper to get recovery home ok it not the done thing but needs must when all else fails

Glad your ok Chap! A least your saving fuel on the way home ! Im insured with Flux, must check my policy.

Just been reading the specialist's notes and she says my eyes are perfect..

I was thinking the same about hers this morning as she was about 30 and very beautiful;)

Looks like we still have to put up with you then bushtreker. lol.

Glad it's not to serious hope you are back to normal ASAP.

All the best for a safe trip home and all the best for your eyes. Do take care and do as you've been advised, our eyes are so precious and irreplaceable. Didn't seem to be much wrong with yours when looking at the young beautiful specialist!

I'm glad you have been checked out and it's nothing serious. Have a safe trip home :drive:

No need to apologise Sparks.

There was no way you could have known. Yes, I went with Adrian Flux because they would recover vehicles and mine is 24 years old. If you ever get fed up of the chippy Lotty, you would make a good eye specialist with your eyes X

Are you at the meet Lotty?

I might go to the one in Northumbria if my eyes are OK

Affraid not  We have been house hunting all day today and another viewing tomorrow so had to miss this one. Going the August one tho  Its the bank holiday weekend so we are going to take the week off and have a little tour around.
Can you make the August meet?

I'm hoping to.

Obviously it will depend on how quickly my eyes remember they are meant to work together, but she seemed to think it could be fairly quickly. If they don't I'll be easy to spot at the meet, with a tricorn hat, eyepatch, parrot and wooden leg, courtesy of the NHS. The only problem is that I think I've been committed to being in Cornwall the week after, which could extend into all of September if the weather is OK. I found a National Trust site at Ilam Hall I want to try as well, even closer for you two and good for walking.

I hope you'll be well enough to make it, Will be good to catch up with you again x
