What with all the rain, i don't have a dryer, too warm to put heating on, how to dry the washing, I have started putting mine in the greenhouse, i don't use it so i thought it was a good idea. dry's em lovely

Have you ever had to improvise, and what have you done?

Many years ago when we bought our present bungalow it came with a great western railway carriage in the back garden where I used to dry the babies towelling nappies -that gives you an idea of how many years ago!!

as the owner of 4 kids drying clothes was a fairly major part of our lives.bloody nappies,we used to get extra strong pegs and peg them on the roof rack, they'd dry in a few miles, but in a house i always make a simple ladder type rack, cut a couple of notches so it sits on the radiator, put a screw in the wall and tie a bit of string so the rack can lean forward or fold back out the way.put the clothes on it and cover the whole thing in a shower curtain.instant flatley drier if you remember them

I am having the same problem - we too dont have a dryer - it makes things very slow:mad: Unfortunatly - we dont have a greenhouse - great idea though!!

Only got one pair of shorts and one tee shirt. they go in the microwave.:)

Some on here improvise by using brake fluid instead of Gin!

In Germany we've used Dutch gin instead of windscreen washer fluid - It was cheaper and didn't freeze at -20...

good old fashioned creel. i"ve had one for years and always had to use it cos our back garden faces north, it takes ages to dry anything outside even when it"s sunny.:idea-007:

Not really an improvisation, but one idea that was already in place when we moved into the house and we kept it.
We have a clothes hanger that can be lowered from the ceiling in our utility room. When that is full, our covered decking area get utilised.
