Hi my 4.7kg bottle of propane has run out.It only had a little bit in when i got van and was testing the water heater and cooker. The problem i have is it is a BOC bottle and seems to be difficult finding a supplier locally. Can i buy a similar size made by another company? Or does anyone know where i can exchange my one for another one? I am in between Newark and Mansfield area. Thanks in advance :)

have a google for flogas .if you can get a bigger bottle in .they dont charge deposits on the bigger bottles .

lOOK ON EBAY FOR AN EMPTY CALOR BOTTLE. sHOULD GET FOR A FIVER IF YOU CAN FIND ONE LOCALLY. aLSO LOCAL "ADMAG" OR OTHER FREE PAPER

Thanks

Hi thanks for the replys I will need it to be a small bottle because of the size of space it sits in the cupboard.basildog where are you located? as that could be an option will also look in admag etc and post on freecycle.Maybe i should post a pic of the space i have to play with if that will help :)

Could always get a refillable one from Gas-it. cost to start with, but pays back inside 12- 18 months and can take to alternative vehicle or sell on.

I dont think i could go any bigger than the 4.7kg bottle in this little cupboard.Do i need to use propane or can i use a different type of gas? it supplies the cooker, fridge and the water heater.I have also just found a different regulator that was at the back of cupboard had not noticed it until just now :)

I am still confused on these claims as to getting the cost back as for my size cylinder the saving is small ?
Also no refilling stations in our area either !

Based on a 6Kg calor I can put in the same amount of gas ie 6Kg for about a tenner where as the calor one is about 20 quid.

I cant get the next size calor in my locker is it 15kg but I can get a 13kg gas it in so I get double the gas in the same space, so I can go longer without refills. Obviously, you don't have to wait until it's empty before topping up so once the gas bottle indicator shows empty, I know I've got about 2-3 days left (it's not very accurate!!)

I still have a 6 kg "Just in case" but I've never needed it.

So I'm saving money and stopping for gas less.

Gas bottles relying on memory, but definitely can't get bigger calor in locker but can get gas-it in I think it's about 13kg.

Gas is now about £0.67 litre.

It depends on usage - we had a Gaslow system installed and it paid for itself in 18 months - but we do live virtually full-time in our van. If you only use your van, say, 2 months per year it could take you 9 years!

Hi, camperdoodles is that camping shop still not open in Edwinstowe at traffic lights (not been that way for some time)if not most garages sell gas , Mick

Hi no unfortunatley it closed over a year ago.I have also taken a drive up to Sherwood campsite but they wanted an astronomical £52 including £34 deposit for a bottle just over 3kg's why this much i dont know.

Propane is the best all weather gas it won't let you down in freezing conditions as Butane can.

So will it run everything in the van? dont need one for one thing and one for another? if that makes sense :lol-053:
