Never heard of these.

I will check these out.

A ceramic knife eh, never heard of them, won't go blunt you say, why don't I believe that LOL, I saw a super knife on sale at the Motorhome Show at Newbury recently, [ super is what the salesman called it ] it had a series of holes in the blade and would even cut Strawberry Jelly if you believed the blurb, I watched the demo but was not convinced enough to buy one ,I must Google your ceramic jobby though.

If they don't go blunt, why are they selling knfe sharpeners as well?

The advert states that they hold their edge longer than steel blades, so they will go blunt with time - any edge will.

As donkey too says, why else would they sell sharpeners.

I think I'd rather pay a couple of quid for a steel blade and get a new one when it gets past its useful life - I can get a lot of cheap knives for the cost of a ceramic one!

Ceramic blades do stay sharp for a very long time but you have to be careful how you handle them as they chip easily. No good having a super sharp blade if it's got a big chip missing from it because it was dropped accidentally!!

try Aldi

Got one from Aldi the other week. You need to take care re chopping boards to preserve the edge but good so far and reasonably priced

blimey i'm not selling the bloody things!they're good, carbon steel knives go rusty and need a lot of sharpening.stainless steel stays sharp for a very short time before sharpening,i tried shaving with this ceramic blade, about 10 quid, after using it all week and i'm impressed, suit yourself !

using a suitable chopping board is important for any sharp knife. If the board is harder than your knife, you don't need to wait too long before it's blunt. No Glass, Stone or ceramic plates.

I still have a set of knives that were given to my first wife, dare i SAY IT? 53 years ago. They are all still in fantastic shape and have been used daily for all those years. Only one of them has had to be re ground and they are as sharp as the day they were bought. Cant beat quality steel.
I also have a broom that is 53 years old and still as good as new. I admit that in its life it has had several new heads and a couple of new handles but still like new.:lol-049:

Take care with the Aldi knives they are quite brittle. Got one the other year and the blade chipped very easily.
