Has anyone upgraded oven in a Carioca 625?

Your help would be much appreciated.

We have a Carioca 625 2007 with a back kitchen which we bought second hand. We absolutely love it except for the fact it only has the smev 555 grill.
The problem is that the grill is adjacent to the toilet and the door of the toilet curves out so much that even the door of the tiny grilll almost touches it. The later models have relocated the oven to the centre of the kitchen.

I've been trawling the net and am having difficulty identifying an oven which would fit. I'm very happy with the rest of the kitchen.

We are relative newbies having only had the van since May 2010 but thanks to Wonderful Wild Camping we have spent 200 nights in the van and of those only about 25 nights on site. Isn't retirement glorious!

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Brondalar I have a CI too with a similar set up smev grill no oven.

Before you fit an oven I would suggest a couple of things.

Firstly speak with your insurers, it is a modification are they happy and would they insist upon a gas safety certificate after the work by a recognised ACS LAV gas man ? Indeed they might not approve of the conversation at all. They may even insist the work is carried out by a ACS approved engineer.( which it should be)

In respect of fitting the oven if you can find one,( then it has to carry a CE mark) there are several things to consider. You are increasing the possible demand on the vans system, and therefore pipe sizing, and ventilation may have to be changed. Also consider that a minimum distance is required between the oven walls and any combustible surface before shelling out money.

Your van is a 2007, so should comply with current BS and European standards, but there is a caveat to be considered for those considering on an older van.

'Grand father' rights are granted to older vans in the respect that they can conform to the standards laid out at the time of manufacture, but any additional fitting like an Oven or replacement appliance if not like for like means the whole van needs to be brought up to current standard....that can be expensive.

Whilst electric ovens are limited for wilding, you may find a portable electric, genny to provide power, is a more cost efficient way to go

Many Thanks Channa,
I hadn't considered many of those points. The van was bought new from the Geoff Cox dealership by the previous owner so I may just go back to them as they have been helpful in the past. I was trying to do it a bit cheaper but most importantly it has to be right. Thanks again Brondalar
