What Does Yours Do?

At a meet up yesterday with members of another forum locally in NI, I was asked how many MPG did the Regius do...and I couldn't answer because I'd never bothered to work it out....then I thought it might be an idea to put up here what each of our vehicles does (if you know with reasonable accuracy)...so that any prospective new Motorhome owners know what to expect with running costs...or you could check to see if yours is roughly on track or are you getting a lot less possibly indicating a problem...

Bearing in mind that if you are running on dual Petrol/LPG the offical opinion is you get 20% less miles per gallon when running on LPG....though no loss of performance..

so I worked it out today...

Toyota Regius 4 wheel drive to the gallon ....LPG : 20 (19.88) miles - Petrol : 25 (24.85) miles

Did a run tonight of 134.9 k round trip and used 19.14 litres of LPG at a cost of £14.14p

Update - Wait a mo...i'm going to have to eat humble pie here...forgot this is an import and the darned odometer is still in kilometers,
so I'll have to change those miles and that changes things!

(I posted an almost identical post on www.motorhomecraic.com so more information on particular motorhome figures may be also availabe to view there).

Yes I guess it would...but I'm thinking average trip and contents..

It's going to be interesting to see what Harry Ramsden (CoolJules) gets on Chip Power lol!

...yea I know that's a Banana but IT could be a chip lol!!

Laika Ecovip 100 (4.3T) built using the Fiat front end and 2.8JTD (Iveco) engine

Towing trailer with Smart Fourtwo = 24mpg
Towing trailer without car = 31mpg

Calculated on a French trip of 1200 miles we averaged 25mpg with our 2.8 TD Peugeot Boxer lump.
We often set the cruise control to 60mph on the flatish motorways, unless it was hilly and then we drove sensibly (ish):sleep-040:
I didn't think the mpg was bad for a 3m high, 7m long 'brick', but pretty poor looking at baloothebear's Laika.

Romahome HyLo 2.0 HDi

I've only had two camping trips so far and been using the diesel for heating too so mpg figures won't be completely reliable. As a guide, however:

Pembrokeshire (motorway & A roads): 53mpg
Cotswolds (slow A roads, some short runs and stuck behind a 10mph tractor for long stretch): 40.5mpg

I'm hoping to average about 45mpg.

our MH is based on a 2008 Fiat Ducatto 2.3 jtd, we usually get 28 mpg on a run which is a mix of motorway and A roads.

Lotty

My averages have been taken over numerous trips to the West Country and over to France to see Mme Fifi. I can get these figures fairly consistantly except when faced with small roads that involve a lot of gear changing then I get stuffed over on the MPG: For some reason I have never bothered to record fuel consumption for Cornwall. I can only imagine that it would depress me so much that I would never go there again.

I have not had the engine remapped and keep thinking that might be on the cards for 2012

I do try to keep engine servicing at twice what Fiat reccomends, especially the air filters. I also have the fuel pump caliberated and the injectors serviced regularly but that is because my Son in Law has the equipment to do the work.

These figures are not as good as I got from a Transit "banana" engine; 34 to 37mpg

We have a 5.7m coachbuilt based on the VW T4 PETROL engine and get 20mpg on average. That's for a mix of a bit of motorway and mostly A roads with a bit of side roads. With a heavy right foot that would be less - we drive for comfort and economy not speed.

Our T4 2.5 tdi returns 45+ mpg when driven at HGV speeps on a run. I have managed 50 mpg but this needed very gentle driving over a long main road trip.

my lt35 averaged 30mpg over 3000miles and i have a heavy foot and that included a lot of mountains

In our 2.8Hdi diesel Autosleeper Executive we average 25mpg. This is over a variety of roads and not driving to achieve good mpg.

On the M5 Bristol to Plymouth trip which I do regularly, we normally run at 65 -70 mph and we only get 22-23mpg. When I did the same motorway trip running with the HGVs at 56mph the mpg went up to around 30-31mpg.

We have a Kontiki 8m long 2.8 itdt 2001 on ducato/alko base

Without trailer we get about 27 mpg with trailer loaded with gig equipment total load about 300Kg we get 25 mpg

I drive reasonably carefully, but at 60 on motorways/dual carriageways because of trailer.

Going to a gig we are at MAUW of 3400 Kg
