Waste Water tank

I wonder if anyone can help. I have recently purchased a A/S Rapport conversion done in 1993 (on Renault Trafic base) in v good condition but which does not have a waste Water tank. Presumably the waste was collected by a container placed under the exit pipe (under the vehicle). Am I right in thinking that this arrangement would not be allowed in any motorhome stopover where you must be completely independant, so that I need to attach a waste water tank? If so, does anyone know the best place to have this done?

Hi Peter.

If i were you I would contact CAK tanks (google them) there are based near kennelworth Warks.
I have just fitted a fresh water/waste tank under my van, a bit of an effort at my age but Im pleased with the results. CAK are very helpfull they do tank kits for lots of MHs old and new. Unfortunately they didn't do one for mine so I had to adapt another one, but I'm guessing most competent DIYers or mechanic would be able to fit one.

surely an container that has a screw lid can be used as waste collecter then juyst collecter waste water and dispose of it in right place i use a five ltr water bottle for mine and the same for fresh water then just dump down the toilet if istop somewhere to use a loo as it only got grease cofeee dregs washing up liquid and it not going into a soakawayso it wil get treated just remember it there when u drive away oops done that drove over one but any large container so 10 ltr water container should do you long it fit s onto waste pipe and under van or beside van
 
It sounds like your van is geared up for a caravan style grey waste collector ...to my knowledge there is nothing that precludes you stopping anywhere with this arrangement .

The convenience factor in perhaps fitting a dedicated grey water tank is the issue not as to where you can stop

But fitting an external waste water container precludes you from saying you are parked. Put out anything and it could be said you are camping.

It's one thing that differentiates a MH from the majority of caravans. Also, it's much more convenient to have an onboard waste!!

I can also recommend CAK Tanks if you are anywhere near Kenilworth. They have a vast number of tanks that they purpose make for different vehicles, they are very helpful for advice (I can particularly recommend Robin) and they also do a fitting service. They have just replaced a leaking water tank for me.

A few years back, 20+ I had no waste tank on my old banger. I picked up an 18L water canister with a tap on it. drilled a hole into the canister and fitted the waste pipe into it and siliconed it. Job done. When ever I wanted to empty the canister, I opened the tap n canister and out flowed the water. Had to do it daily because of the size.
