I think that report referred to the effects on stove users within their property, not the bloke walking past who can smell the smoke from the chimney.Interesting topic.
“The dangers of wood burning stoves vs. the wholesale destruction and burning of oil and gas facilities and their effects on clean air - discuss”.
I will continue to burn our wee stove with nary a regret. In the grand scheme of things right now (and at my age) I consider the use of it to be as dangerous to my life and limb as a gnat’s fart![]()
One thing is absolutely certain: while ever the price of mainstream public power sources (oil, gas, electric) remain extortionately high I won’t be stopping using my multi-fuel stove any time soon. In fact, I’m damn thankful we’ve got one!
It’s called affordability (and a little bit of independence from outrageous profiteers).![]()

After decades of welding all types of materials, Trev. I won’t worry about my 5kw stove use. That said though, I may un re-tire my air fed welding hood when watching tv in front of stovewas thinking of one until i read reports.View attachment 150723

I thought it was for planting your potatoes in, but I spelled it as Pete ... An easy mistake to make ...Nice smell if you burn peat.![]()
Well, I shall mansplain a bit more. If you burn any bits of scrap wood you come across, like wood treated with preservatives, it can be dangerous to health. Of course you would know that as a modern woman.Aw, thanks for mansplaining, Jim
I know exactly what the report was about
Read my post again. The bit that says “I consider the use of it to be as dangerous to my life and limb as a gnat’s fart?”![]()
That's what I love about this place Moonraker2 asks a sensible question about concerns over a war that could potentially destroy the worlds economy and possible spread to Lesser jihad and its effects Motorhome travel throughout the continent we live on and next thing you know we're overly concerned about wood burners and possible health risks that are easily avoidedThen just for a bit of levity Jim has a pop (playfully I stress to add) about the intelligence of the modern female kind. Best bit is half of us will forget by teatime
