Beef Bourguignon Alarm

We also had a CO alarm go off in the small hours, after SWIMBO had had some tealights burning before going to bed. On reading instructions it turns out the monitor measures an integrated CO, not just the peak level, so a lower level over a longer time can set it off even if the peaks not that high. Several hours with the doors all open at 5 degrees cured the urge to have tealights, just in case they were the cause.

Our alarm went off like this mysteriously at new year. Apparently it was the mulled wine...we googled it and seems that the mulling releases something the alarm reacts to...the question is...exactly HOW MUCH red wine do you put in your bourguignon?
Edit just seen the other post explaining it's ethanol!

They probably were the cause. How many did she leave burning? Tea lights and candles give off small amounts of CO and in a well ventilated room one or two are unlikely to be dangerous. However in a small enclosure like a motorhome you need to be careful.

Some CO alarms are more sensitive to ethanol than others. Some use filters or have better calibrated and targeted detection systems.

Solved by changing from Fireangel with sealed battery to a replaceable battery one where I could take it out rather than dancing around in the snow wafting the cursed thing about until it shut up.
Perversely this one seems happy with the pressure cooker and never needed to.
Must be something to do with the particular model, because a first attempt at replacement with an identical one didn’t work (jumping up and down on top of it in frustration until it self destructed whilst satisfying didn’t seem to help either!).
