Good evening, a question for those of you who are/ have used a Reglo SIM in France.
I have read the various threads on here regarding the success of streaming. We are low on data with our Smarty Sims (2 x12gb) and Lebara SIM (1 x30gb) , may I ask the following?
We watch catch-up TV, BBC, itvx, U, etc streamed through a Roku box linked to the TV.
Will a french SIM be allowed to stream these UK channels or do I need to consider adding a VPN to permit me to watch?

Thanks for replies,

Davy

I’m currently in France been here 3 weeks and two to go.
I’m using a reglo sim in a netgear nighthawk m3.
I’ve used it every evening for the firestick and it worked perfectly for streaming, I use a vpn tho as mentioned.
350gb reglo sim was €19

As said, VPN needed. I did manage to get iPlayer and ITV to work via a free VPN in Epic Privacy browser just when I Was bored one day but it wasn't very reliable. worked one day then not the next. On the odd occasion Michelle wants live TV we use the dish and actual TV. Sometimes programs are put up youtube and you can use tv.garden to watch BBC news etc.

Eyesight not suited to reading and no sex on offer, so need to pass the late evenings somehow!
I do download lots of radio programmes, and we managed 7 weeks in Spain in April/may on our 54gbs of contract. The monthly renewal dates on this trip don't seem to coincide as well.

Good evening! If you pop a French Reglo SIM in, it’ll give you data just fine for streaming, but the catch is the content. UK services like BBC iPlayer, ITVX, etc. check your location — so with a French SIM you’ll be treated as outside the UK and most of those apps won’t work directly. In that case, yes, you’d need a reliable VPN to make it look like you’re connecting from the UK.

Bludy hell Rob, some of the ad breaks can run to 5 minutes nowadays. You could have your dinner and sex for dessert in that time.
Anyway, my wife watches BBC, so no chance.
Better excuse than a headache though, "sorry darling, I'm watching BBC. Maybe if they do away with the licence fee you MIGHT get lucky!!"

Works very well with Disney+, France TV, TF1, Arte...

You could always get one of those special firesticks and get all the channels, not that I’m condoning that mind you

If you want a reliable no bullshit VPN then you should try Windscribe they do a free (no ads etc.) account but you only get 10GB of data which is plenty to try it before signing up for paid account or may even be enough for some people 🤔

To avoid buffering, as French 5g can be a bit slow in rural parts, either use the straming in standard definition option, not high definition, and change download settings to lowest or lowish quality to save on data use. However with 350gb of Reglo data per month data use should not be an issue whatever.

For some reason I find downloads for viewing use less data than streaming directly even if both are on the low quality settings.

My current usage since the 28th of last month, that’s been two phones connected and streaming tv every night
