Chip fat?

The OP refers to making the fuel from WVO. This suggests BD to me? BD is now safe in all but older vehicles. Standard mineral diesel from the forecourt now contains around 7% BD as standard. In vehs about 3 yrs old and older the seals and pipes may not be up to the spec for BD. I know a few years ago (3 or 4) you could spec a new VW to run on BD- it was about £1500 more (for better spec lines and seals).

from what i have read, WVO is totally different to bio diesel. i wont be putting any chemicals in, just filtered to 1 micron, settled wvo.

Get your self along the the forum I list in post 3.

None of this is as simple as it seems. Also if it's being done properly the places giving you the WVO need to track there waste disposal so you will need a waste licence form the environment agency.

IMO if they are going to give you free WVO then they are either mad as they can sell it or it's not going be much good for making fuel. My guess is it will contain a lot of animal fat such as found in kebab or burger joints. Animal fats will solidify at quite warm temperatures blocking fuel delivery systems.

Unless you have a Bosch diesel pump I think you are going to have a lot of problems. Really read and digest information in that forum.

Assuming you do get started what are you going to do with your waste generated from the refining process?

An interesting thread...however it seems a lot of trouble to go to to achieve a savings so I decided to
not go the diesel route with my new campervan (drive a diesel 4x4 currently). Instead I opted for petrol with
LPG conversion.

yes i joined when you mentioned it, been reading it often. and i have read about heating, filtering, cooling etc. it seems lots of people on that forum have the same old BMW as me, running fine, as well as the old VW engine in the camper.
