water bills

As Geoff says the billing has been manipulated to ensure most people that are unmetered will over pay, our charges where based on a old low ratable value (not the same as council tax branding) even so the bill dropped substantially after having a meter fitted. We have had a hiccup in the last 6 months with a water leak which caused the bill to rocket, but even then we have overall paid much less since having the meter, in fact it appears since the leak we still pay less than Bill!

Some companies are considering introducing stepped tariffs for those with "non Smart" meters.

i.e. if you use more than the average consumption you pay a higher rate per unit.

The only La La land that's been pedalled is from governments themselves and the populous have been mugs for believing them.

SWW are doing it the other way around AFAICT: that is, they are offering a discount for people who cut their consumption to below some datum (average, previous consumption, etc.) However, the undiscounted charge is still a lot less than an unmetered consumer would pay.

Missed out “ not to do” :)

The populous are just as bad Ral.
Some seem to think they can have their cake and eat it.
We in the west are heading for a Greek crisis.
It’s time for politicians to talk straight, and for the populous to accept things have to change. Voting for parties who promise the earth whilst spending money they don’t have has to end. I agree with you Ral taxes will raise, because cut backs just won’t be accepted. Problem is will they have the bottle to raise them enough, I suspect not.
I also agree with you, future generations will carry brunt of what will be required.

That's assuming any of them will remain in this country. The bright ones will clear off and the Government will not get much revenue from the remainder, especially as most of the remainder will be on the sick with mental health problems and stress. Perhaps all these new arrivals will fix the country. :unsure:

Move to where, just about every country in the west is in the same position as we are.
They to will have to either suffer austerity, or raise taxes.
Anyway I doubt if the current government will raise them enough.
Folk have to wake up, and politicians need to talk straight, and media have to stop stirring up revolt every time they try to propose cutbacks.
Nigel Farage is most certainly not the answer, but yet he may well get the keys to no 10.
As I said in post 25 we are as much to blame as our politicians.
We are living well beyond our means, and we must realise it will end in tears.
Most of us won’t be here to witness the full impact.
We have rattled up the credit card, and our kids will have to pay off the balance.

We are on dangerous territory here regarding the 'no politics' rule but here is a thought before the thread is pulled.

The Conservatives are pretty much dead and buried. Labour have fecked up massively and will not be trusted for a long time. Reform are realistically the only other option.
Forget Lib Dems, Greens etc they have no chance.
So, back to Reform, what happens if they get in power but prove no better than the Conservatives or Labour?

Reform, once in power, just pedal the same old lies, are unable to deal with illegal migration, raise taxes to breaking point etc, etc.
Many see Reform as the last hope but if it all goes to hell, then what?

As I now live in single occupancy house with a water meter my water bill has dropped massively , a water meter should be worth considering
