Am I the only one who has noticed ?

Wasps are fantastic pest controllers AND pollinators for most of the season...

Only towards the end of summer with no larvae to feed do the effectively become teens out on white lightening and WKD...

  • Early summer: Wasps primarily feed insects to their larvae, which require protein for development.

  • Late summer/early autumn: The queen wasp stops laying eggs, and the last batch of larvae mature.

  • End of summer/autumn: The adult wasps, no longer needing to feed larvae, turn to sugary foods like ripe fruit, nectar, and even sugary drinks and desserts.

We were plagued with them outside the pub yesterday. Most of my mates were drinking lager and the Wasps couldn't get enough of it, I was on Ghost Ship and they steered clear of it for some reason.

That reminded me that a few years back my daughter bought me a New Scientist book "Does Anything Eat Wasps: And 101 Other Questions"

It has been a while since I read and I have forgotten most of the stuff in it.

Will pack it for the next trip.
My father in law bought me (feck knows why) a book called something like, all the worlds dead, it was mainly concerned with the wars in history, I thought it was shite but wouldn't mind a copy now I'm 50 years older if not wiser.

Morning peeps.

Very strong winds battering all the poor trees in full leaf, but at least it's sunny today. 🤷‍♀️(y)

Still feeling buggy and chest bunged up, wish it would "buggy off"! 😝

We finally got the lease sorted for a big community allotment last week, so hopefully lots of good stuff coming down the line... 🤞👌

Morning kiddies.

Has this thread morphed into another 'Who's awake'?
