I would not bother trying to get underneath to apply any treatment. So, I'm over the moon with my shiny new Devon/ Peugeot PVC. Now, would you give it some rust treatment or do you believe it's not necessary these days?
Good advice IF you haven't got the gear at home OR enthusiasm ...I would not bother trying to get underneath to apply any treatment.
But I WOULD go to a proper company who can apply a decent treatment and has the right facilities to get into all the nooks and crannies. And when the van is virtually brand new is the time to do it.
The outfit I've posted above looks like a proper good quality operator. But if it's one of the ones you think should be avoided, I'd definitely like to know.Good advice IF you haven't got the gear at home OR enthusiasm ...
I would add though ...
Please check and read genuine feedback for those companies ....
There are a couple that regularly advertise this service that frankly I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot bargepole ...
Speaking as someone with,a foot in the landrover world (a vehicle that trusts only secondary to a transit )
One in particular sticks out as being regularly awful .
It's not one that I've come accross .The outfit I've posted above looks like a proper good quality operator. But if it's one of the ones you think should be avoided, I'd definitely like to know.
Dont forget the inclosed box sections, inside doors a frame pillers etc, waste of time just spraying the underside, rust starts within and works its way out.I spray the underside each year with Lanoguard seem to do the trick .
I would say not necessary. BUT it would increase the life of the vanSo, I'm over the moon with my shiny new Devon/ Peugeot PVC. Now, would you give it some rust treatment or do you believe it's not necessary these days?
All unpainted steel rots from day one, do you think they paint or prim insode sills doors a frames etc, big no, you should sort from day one if you intend to keep the van long term.I would say not necessary. BUT it would increase the life of the van
You never owned a ford then, known here as RB ONES.Worth bearing in mind that Ducatos/Boxers/Relays are galvanised and have been since 2007.
It's very effective at preventing rust. I'd question the value in rustproofing the vehicle. My 2007 Ducato based Autotrail Dakota is rust free after 18 years...
Its not hot dip galv, just a electroplate flash covering.Worth bearing in mind that Ducatos/Boxers/Relays are galvanised and have been since 2007.
