Hmm, not sure about that Barry. A post 2017 electric car currently £0 tax, from April = £195. I don't think inflation is at quite that level yet!Not watched it but I think there is a lot of scaremongering going on about this. I think the big changes are only affecting new vehicles and older ones are just going up with inflation as normal.

Watch the video Barry, some cars are way, way above inflation rate. A Toyota Prius Hybrid, now £10 from April £110. There are more examples in the vid!Ah but they have been paying nothing until now. Have you seen the size of some of these electric vehicles not to mention how much they weigh. As to their green credentials well we can argue that until the cows come home but my neighbour over the road has a two ton EV Mustang that I think cost about £60k or something. Should it be free? I don't think so.
Think its always the case when people have been given a tax perk and it's then taken off them they're extremely unhappy.Ah but they have been paying nothing until now. Note that it's not just farmers who are getting stung, small businesses also had a similar IHT break which is being removed, the latest figures show the hit to UK economy far exceeds any tax made by .gov.Think its always the case when people have been given a tax perk and it's then taken off them they're extremely unhappy.
Recent inheritance tax for farmers is a case in point
Just taxed my EV for 12 months or £0. It starts 1/1/25 end 31/12/25.Hmm, not sure about that Barry. A post 2017 electric car currently £0 tax, from April = £195. I don't think inflation is at quite that level yet!
Just bear in mind that there is a 5-day (IIRC) period after SORN during which you can't re-tax online.Just taxed my EV for 12 months or £0. It starts 1/1/25 end 31/12/25.
Thinking of SORNing on 2/3/25 then taxing it from 3/3/25 and having free tax until 28/2/26. i.e. getting an extra 2 months free and saving £50.
Certainly worth thinking about if you EV tax is due in March 25.
I just cancelled my 2025 Lambo order.![]()
Probably a PorschoWhat you having instead Terry - Beefo or Porko?
My research was that you can unsorn the same day as you sorn. .Just bear in mind that there is a 5-day (IIRC) period after SORN during which you can't re-tax online.

@6:40 in the video.I had a quick look at the Prius but can't find one that is or was £10 a year. I just found this. They seem to be either £180 or zero.
Toyota Prius Hatchback (from 2015) car tax

Presumably it was cheap because it had an EV element but not anymore.
