By getting a freshen up kit he is both getting a new cassette AND a spare one, similar to your 2 spare ones. Did someone ask you why you are buying a new one when you have a serviceable one already? The only things that seem to wear out are the seals, which are cheap and easy to fit. Why buy a replacement one?
Much as a cassette with wheels and a handle would be nice, none of our three* cassettes has them and we get by.
*Having three cassettes means the toilet lasts as long as the water tank.
In my case, I wanted a second cassette because some relatives we visit each year have a septic tank and they're not OK with us emptying our cassette down their toilet -- they think there's a risk of that 'poisoning' the septic tank (it happened to some of their neighbours, and cost a fair few bob to have the tank sucked out). Our typical visit is too long for one cassette and it costs the same in C&CC 'pump & dump' fees to empty two cassettes as it does for one. The spare (i.e. original) cassette lives in an underslung locker that's such a good fit that Autotrail might have designed it with that purpose in mind! Acquiring a new seat was a bonus!I bought a freshen up kit as TBH it is nice to have a loo that no one else has used before but it meant I also gained a spare cassette (the original) should I need it. Never have done but it lives in my small underfloor basement at the back just in case.
We don't put chemicals into our toiletvapart from a very little laundry liquid. That won't harm a septic tank, though even 'green' toilet fluids will.In my case, I wanted a second cassette because some relatives we visit each year have a septic tank and they're not OK with us emptying our cassette down their toilet -- they think there's a risk of that 'poisoning' the septic tank
I bought mine to 'replace' the original. doesn't mean I have to throw the original one away to avoid the wrath of the grammer naziesHe specifically used the word 'replace'. I work on the assumption that people who ask questions tell the truth.
We will be replacing the original cassette but I didn't say I was throwing it away it will be kept as a spare you shouldn't jump to assumptionsHe specifically used the word 'replace'. I work on the assumption that people who ask questions tell the truth.
TBH, a little laundry liquid (allegedly) is all the person who (allegedly) 'poisoned' the septic tank I mentioned upthread. Whatever, my relative isn't happy for me to empty a cassette down their toilet and I'm not about to force the issue. Much easier to buy double the endurance! We don't put chemicals into our toiletvapart from a very little laundry liquid. That won't harm a septic tank, though even 'green' toilet fluids will.
The only thing you need to consider is te size of your cassette. When you get the model with wheels and handle, the capacity of the tank is reduced.Thats not really important with the larger cassettes but with the smaller cassettes it makes quite a difference in capacity. We want to replace our cassette we have found some on eBay but they have wheels and ours don't it says it's a direct replacement but was wondering if any one has done this and they do fit thanks
