Hi, So I gets van cleaned, packed up ready to go in a day or so. Iv closed the tank dump valve, closed the boiler dump valve, turned the boiler switch to correct position pushed in button, turned water pump on, turned all hot water taps on till water is running out in a stream. I then turn on the water this heats up fine, so I switch over to hot water and heating both working well. I turn everything off and after a couple of minutes water is poring out the van from I believe the dump valve, the button has come out. I push it back in but Again after a minute it clicks and dumps the water, my now half full water tank is half empty.
please has anyone got any knowledge as to what is happening and how do I stop it And get it working again?

switched the

I had a previous van (Burstner) which dumped water whenever the outside temp dipped below 10 C.
My temporary fix was to put a clothes peg on the valve which stopped it opening.
I took the peg off whenever I drained the van.

I made a plastic shim that fits under the valve and keeps it closed. It's always in place until I drain the tank after each trip.

Pegs and clips do not work on all Truma dump valves. Try warming the dump valve with a heat gun/ hair drier for a while and then try to reset the dump valve.

Mines the red pull up type so I have a fishing hook through it and tie it off with fishing line I do release it in extreme cold weather so I don’t break the water heater and always turn off the water pump when not in use so if it does dump it’s only 10 litres in the heater and not the whole fresh water.

If the hot water is switched on the dump valve should not be open, are you sure that is where it is dumping from?
There is another place the Truma dumps from and it is the pressure valve

you will find this on the output pipe to your hot water (at the top of the water heater) if it is this it needs changing, it doesn't reset when the pressure drops

Pull it up an put a clothes peg on it to stop it from dropping mine syphons almost all water from tank when it drops

Thank you everyone this is really helpful. I’ll go play today and see if I can resolve it Fingers crossed. 🤞

Thank you I have warmed the van up over night with a little heater and everything appears to be working now. So thank you very much everyone.
I’m so relieved I thought I had boiler issue as in replacing or a cracked pipe.

Quite why they have to make things more difficult is beyond me, a simple foolproof valve does the job, if owners are so dumb they can't read and understand the manuals they maybe should find a new hobby, no insult to the OP intended, my beef is with the designers.

I am very happy to have one in my system. It has never dumped the water unexpectedly and I have never forgotten to drain down the system but there is always a first time. Perhaps an unexpected lockdown preventing a visit to the storage site or illness delaying an outing.

And when you forget and people do forget, then boiler gets destroyed it makes for a very expensive peg. They are there for a very valid reason. Folk make the mistake of thinking ice damage only occurs when it is well below 0 deg
Absolutely, they don’t fit these things to make life more difficult, my only gripe is the price of a new one if it does go faulty, at £150 like everything else Truma make it’s grossly overpriced. But I would never disable it, but that’s just my view.

My view is more complex more expensive and more likely to go wrong a simple parkup or set-off checklist covers forgetting we drain down after each trip.

If you search for Alde frost control valve (same part) they come up at nearly half that price and even say Truma on the side.
