To heat or not too heat ?

I usually heat but that’s because I am almost always in the van. If I was intending to leave it for more than a few days I would just drain down and leave taps open with everything off though.

I just want to know when it will be warm enough to refill the tank more snow on the way here

Believe it or not, out of the places I have weather tracking set Kelso has consistently had better weather than any of the other places. Come just out of mid Wales now as had enough snow with no signal lol

No heating now as temp in van is 9.7c which is very warm for this time of the year, bring on global warming.

I have never drained down my vans I do drain the boiler and the waste tank but I leave whatever is in the fresh tank in there I just turn off the pump and open the taps and have never had a problem but that’s not to say it may bite me on the bum one day, if traveling in winter we don’t use the boiler so we leave the water system pump off and use refillable 5 litre bottles and just use water from the kettle for our morning wash.

No heating now as temp in van is 9.7c which is very warm for this time of the year, bring on global warming.

Snap mines at exactly the same temp according to the weather station thingy I have in the van and 10c according to the Eberspacher 801.

However my Renogy Lithium BMS currently states the batteries average temp is only 4c so charging is still disabled until it gets to 5c.

Thanks for the replies, that's a good point about forecourts Barry but I guess they are well drained. That is part of my problem . I just have the "standard" truma boiler , just wondering how much it would cost to run overnight ? Much less than trying to fix a burst I'm guessing ?

If you are thinking of a Truma that has an electric heating element, don't use it for winter heating. The elements have a very limited life and cost a fortune to replace.
