Hi, Does anyone have one of the above and used it to start their motorhome. My van is a Ducato 2.3 / 150bhp. I'm thinking of buying one as aback-up. Thanks.

I have something very similar which works fine on my Renault Master 2.3.

Why not just fit a big 200ah relay and extended battery cable from the leisure batteries.

With these are they instant or do you have to connect them and wait while they transfer some power to the low battery ?

I went down the route of ... 1) Camper van, Victron Cyrix intelligent battery combiner, that along with its charging features allows bout 30 seconds of emergency parallel battery between habitation and starter batteries, 2) Day van, Lucas starter solenoid and a small shielded manual switch to energise it, to parallel the habitation and starter batteries, you would need to invest in fitting some heavy duty 'jump start weight' cable and heavy CB or fusing. My experience with the Lithium jumps starters, and I have used two, is that they can be let down by the poor quality of the crock clips and their internal integrated circuitry that can cut out and prevent current flow even when just waiting to warm the glow plugs before even trying the starter motor. Top tip, whichever jump solution you use make sure you have ignition off when you parallel your batteries, as the vehicles computerised control modules, particularly body control modules, don't like the sudden voltage spikes. How do I know this .... Dohh ...

No way they are professionaly made used it dozens of times better than the bodge Your suggesting
Mine is not a bodge, the lite cable you are using will in no way handle 200 or more cranking amps, but your choice. (y)

I carry one of these You can transfer power from leisure to engine battery if req or help get some charge into someone else's or your own engine battery they are not for direct jump starting
Read the high lighted piece trev you always miss that piece anyway cigarrette plugs are fused as is the leads ends so direct cranking is impossible
