Someone helpfully :censored: folded in the passenger side wing mirror, now it just flops about and Mrs G has to hold it in position when we're at speed on the Motorway. It was a bit iffy before that, only going half in, so I bit the bullet, removed and and dismantled it.
The motor is only working intermittently

And on opening it up

I found the the reason, a worn plastic cog.

Does anyone know if I can get a replacement part, or even a motor? I've Had quick look and didn't see any.
I refuse to shell out £250 plus for a new wing mirror when a 50p part will fix it.

Have you tried the main dealers, I know for the sprinter every part of the mirror can be bought separately.
Or hopefully someone on here will have a broken mirror that they can let you have this part from

If all else fails Put back with plenty of Sixaflex or similar on the cogs reassemble with mirror in right position it won't move then

Rang a Peugeot dealer, it's a full mirror replacement, only £507 and a few pence.

Is it possible to refit the cog in a different position?
It won’t work the folding bit but it could hold the mirror in place so it doesn’t wobble

Cany you rotate the gear 180 deg and use the good gears on that side?

I was going to suggest getting it 3d printed - and if it was a reasonable price get 2 or 3 done. Then offer a spare on eBay to try to recoup some of the cost.

I tried turning it 180 degrees, but the cog rotates through 360 degrees, so it works for a bit then sticks.
Now trying to mend it by making a mould of a good section, fitting it around the filed out bad part and filling it with 2 pack weld.
If that doesn't work I'll persue the 3D print option and if that doesn't work it will be pemanently fixed in position.

You could try buying one from a breaker. Use one of these sites* https://www.247spares.co.uk and https://www.1stchoice.co.uk and breakers from all over the country will contact you with an offer if they have the part.
I have done this a couple of times and it worked for me.

* other sites may be available.

Edit: Also there's Magnum https://magnumvs.co.uk/motorhomes-leisure/motorhome/peugeot/ at about half the price of main stealer. I bought from them for my Fiat a couple of years ago and it was just fine.

I left the JB weld go off overnight and cleaned it up.

It's not pretty, but with a bit of fettling it works fine.
Now reinstalled, wing mirror reasembled and back on the van. Only annoyance was I broke the small mirror, but a tenner to replace is cheap to what it could have cost.
I wonder how many wing mirrors have been skipped because of a worn plastic cog?

Not in the skip but left in the shed as I couldn't work out how to get to the motor. I ended up buying one from the wingmirrorman. The Peugeot dealer quoted me almost £800 for a replacement!! I suspect I have sheared the cog as I clipped the wing mirror. The new one came with a warning not to move it manually so I think the design isn't very robust. It also doesn't adjust as well. I note you can now get them from other suppliers so I would try a different supplier if I need another. I also broke the small mirror removing it!!

I would like to get it working again so if you have any advice on getting to the motor it would be much appreciated. This is off a 2017 Boxer.

There's a small removable panel at the bottom of the wing mirror, where the two parts connect. Lever it out from the rounded end with a flat head screwdriver. Beneath it is a is a starlock washer, which is quite fiddely to remove, I used the flathead screwdrive to prise out the individual lugs till it popped off. Be careefull as there's quite a bit of stored energy in the spring.
When that's off, undo the screw at the top of the wing mirror and the two halfs should come apart. From there it's only four screws holding in the powerfold motor.
To get the starlock washer back on, I used a 14mm and 26mm sockets and a G clamp.

I was thinking along those lines, I'll have a word with daughters partner. They want help putting up a fence, a 3D printed cog could be the price.
Did this little deal with your daughter’s partner come to fruition? I have just gone through the wonderful job of dismantling my wing mirrors and doing the JB weld fix, only for it to fail immediately. Wasn’t strong enough. So I think a replacement cog would be ideal! If you happened to get some 3D printed? I would love to buy a few. I think having some spares would be useful. Thanks!
