Reintroducing myself!

I’ve been on here for a while, but my circumstances have changed a lot since I joined and initially introduced myself, so I thought I’d do an update! I’m in Fife, have an elderly Talbot Express campervan (which has had to have a LOT of work to get her safe/camp-able - and will continue to have to!) and I’m about to start my travels in her, with my rescue dog, and occasionally, my grown up daughter. I’m nervous about getting out there, but feel that I just need to get on with it! I’m going to start close to home and take it from there - I can work anywhere that I can get a signal, so there’s no excuse really …
Picture is first drive after after last lot of external fixing/finally sorted out interior :)

Sounds good. What are you nervous about? The camper or travelling?

Welcome back A good place to start from Fife is Lochore meadows country park, quite a few members use there, it is an excellent base for walking, cycling and watersports.

I recognise where you are parked up on the photo it’s the carpark in Kinross by the banks of Loch Leven. Sadly last time I was there in winter we arrived when it was dark only to find no overnight camping signs had been erected next morning, but we had spent the night alone with no issues. Never been back since.
As bigshug says Lochore is excellent with chemical waste, fresh water, 6 EHU pitches, (lots of non EHU) access to showers £2. For £12 a night with non EHU or £16 it’s worth a look. But currently no grey water disposal.
Fife are possibly the best council in Scotland for wild camping. You can head to Kingsbarns 8 pitches £10 a night, Elie 7 pitches, £10 a night, or Craigmead 5 pitches free. You have to park on designated pitches if you want to overnight.
You could also head for Cellardyke, there’s a cracking carpark there by the outdoor centre on the fife coastal walk, you will find it on the location app. It’s a bit tricky getting into with narrow roads, but I have added clear instructions as to the best way in on the poi, and with your size of van there should be no issues.

Enjoy your time out.

That’s brilliant, thank you so much for your help! 😊

Hi and I hope you have many excellent adventures.

Just one point though, I like that you have a rescue dog, but I think you might be better considering the age of the MoHo to get a more recognised breakdown cover.

Jus sayin like.

Being remote on my own at night makes me nervous - I’ve got an old van and it doesn’t have clever security.

Same here. Our van is 1996, just standard locks, no alarms. I never worry about security though, just being disturbed by noise so Im pretty picky about wild spots. I generally only wild camp up in Scotland or the continent. Usually out in the sticks or the islands. For the rest of the UK apart from a few remote spots I generally seek out the off grid out of the way CL sites. Might be worth joining one of the two clubs to access the five van CL and CS sites. We used loads in the summer in the south west, generally the basic ones were £5-£10 a night. Good back up if you cant find a wild spot you feel comfortable in and some of them feel like wild camping anyway.
