I am trying to get a middle and end part for talbot express 2.5 turbo diesel, not having much luck, has any one else experienced the same and could you share your knowledge with me

Hi
You could try Mike Chubb No1gear 01460 67000 or some motorfactors still have them so ask under Citroen C25/Peugeot J5/Fiat Ducato as you probably know they are the same vehicle.
Did you know there is a new site for TE owners ?
I have tried to post a link but site is down at the MO
Here it is http://talbotoc.cx.cc/

I got mine for my Fiat Ducato 1.9td for £120 fitted from Mr Tyres (a bit of discount in there because the manager is trying to get his leg over my niece but not much)

Hi Haaamster
It`s a different vehicle to yours and parts are getting hard to find.

Hi wynthesurfer

I realise that but if he has a daughter maybe he could get the price knocked down

Hi Kimbowbill,

If your motorhome has a coachbuilt body you may find that the exhaust has an extension piece welded on to the tailpipe end and some of the mounting brackets are not standard ones.

When the exhaust on our autostratus needed replacing, ( after it fell off outside oban!! ). The mechanic at stag garage in lochgilphead had to cut off the original end 2feet of tail pipe and re-weld it to the new tail pipe, and make up new brackets to re-fit it.

At least the campsite at Lochgilphead was a nice place to wait for two days while the new exhaust was sent up from Glasgow!!

its finding one that's the problem, i've had a tug from PC plod, got to get it done quicksmart, think I might start learning, there seems to be a niche out there

reading your post looks as if a double discount may be on the offing :rolleyes2:

try no1 gear he has most items for your van ,another thing to do is make your own system up .not as hard as you may think and also cheaper in the long run as some companies will make you pay thro the nose if they think that you are running a older motor and wanting parts .my beddy for instance the exhausts are anything up to 300 quid because they say parts are very hard to come by ,i can make my own for under 100 quid .they are easy to do as you dont have to stick to fancy bent pipes just a couple of boxes and some pipe and a bit of flexy in fact a quick forrage in a breakers yard and you will be abe to get all you need for a few quid :cool1:

Thanks Mandrake you clever dude, I'm not so clever in that department, now ask me to do a victoria sponge and, well, better than any exhaust

i would rather make a victoria sponge than an exhaust any day ,they taste better

Do you have specialist exhaust shops equipped with a pipe bending rig that can make a matching pipe.

(or must they be OEM according to yet another law or regulation.

that reminds me its time to take my exhaust sysem off for a wirebrush down and repaint with a good exhaust paint and new clamps and rubber mountings ,done it every year for the last 6 years and its still going strong , dont know how long its been on the van but it was on when i got it . when it is all done it still looks brand new but the paint stinks rotten for a while when i drive it ahhh well put up with the pong if it saves replacing the system , all in all costs about a fiver a year cheap or what prevention is better than a cure
