I have similar within my Thule wind out awning cassette, right in the centre and looks like it is a pressure/guide roller to aid a neat roll up when winding in. Haven't checked but from memory it looks something like that

Have you checked if it is missing from yours or asked why it wasn’t replaced? Presumably it would show parts used on the invoice if they fitted new?
Someone did say earlier in the thread it looked like the centre roller in their awning

The hab check report came back with a mysterious written entry along the lines of "parts missing from wind out awning cover"...which suggests that the "missing" part was put in my bloody cab!!

I have emailed the dealer pointing out that this was left in the cab. Plus I have emailed Thule to get info on how easy/not it is to re-fit it. If I can do it I will as the dealers is 45 mins drive away so I'd rather avoid that trip if I can.

It's raining at the mo but armed with some instructions and a dry day. I'll wind it out fully and see what's what.

Yes AllanD (whom I thanked) said it looked like one so I confirmed that here by putting the link to the actual part which someone on another forum kindly did for me.
