Water from Champagne Aires in winter

Dear all,
We are currently in the Champagne area of France and we just realised that all the aires that we have been to so far has their water tap turned off. Can I just ask where can we get water in the Champagne area over this Christmas period?

Hi some have posted getting their water from cemeteries, could you not get it from a garage and drinking water from super market.

Would pertol stations leave their taps on?
Does anyone know any specific location in the area where water is available from the tap?

I've used Cemeteries loads of times; no one has ever said anything.
When you use a garage to refuel, buy small amounts of fuel - that way you can go back every three to four days :) , ask if it is OK otherwise you may find the water is "non potable"
 
Don't mean to swear... but you can always use a campsite every 3 or 4 days, full size shower, empty loo and fill up with water!

We are in the Loire valley and have the same problem - we filled up at the aire in Ange (Montrichard) but all other taps are u/s. We've driven up from St Etienne where it was above freezing and snowless ( we planned to go X-country skiing:( ) so if you're heading south things will get better.

Most campsites are currently closed at the moment.
I have managed to find water supply from the aires in Epernay. It is behind the church.
You will need a token for 100L of water. The tokens are availble at the tourist information centre at 2 euros per token.

@baloo When you use taps from cemeteries (is this in France as well?), do you assume the water is non-potable?

Even in March in the south of France, I am finding many aires where the water is turned off for the winter. I am finding enough water to keep me going, but I would like a Plan B in case of need! Waste is usually easier, because even if the water is turned off, the designated hole in the ground is usually still available.

When the hole appears blocked by a strange looking frozen brown mass, you will know you are in more trouble than just a lack of water. I'd hate to be the poor council worker given the job of commissioning an aire after the thaw.
 
Tony, I think you are confusing turned off with frozen.

In temperatures down to -15C, I have yet to come across a frozen black waste hole. If there was a risk, I am sure that the appropriate authority would have locked it up, like they did with the taps, no?

As a full timer, what do you do with your waste in the frozen months?
