Had one of these for 3 years and has started a number of cars and motorhomes.
Thankfully haven’t had to use it on my vehicles but use it every trip out to charge iPad, iPhone, ecigs etc.
More than what you want to pay but they do numerous others which should be suitable for your needs.

Why not have a relay and switch to join all the van batteries together for an emg start, that's what I have, simple tp do, start the car of the van if stuck.

Hi Trevor i have a relay switch on the van the van is ok but my car at the moment has a flat battery and and really want it for that to get me to the garage but thought it would be good to have one in the car for emergency use only.

Expensive and if the battery is really flat they don't work, been there saw the t shirt, I have one of the older jumper kits and its the same, battery just low it works, flat forget it, how old is you battery, if over 5 years maybe a new one would be best, remember short hops kill the bu--ers.

They will work with a totally flat battery -- there is an override switch for when there's insufficient battery voltage for the polarity protection feature. I have a GBX45 and it provided enough current to start my 2 litre diesel car when the battery open circuit voltage was down to 1.3V.

Yes i have just checked the battery it’s been in there for over 5 years 😂😂think a new one is in order cheers

If anyone adopts this good idea, they must use heavy gauge cable (same thickness as jump leads) between the L bat +ve & relay; S bat +ve & relay; L bat -ve & ground.

Also the relay should support 600-900 amp on high current side.

If in doubt seek assistance.

Same here, started a couple of cars with dead batteries.
Same here.....
Good ones are a delight to use (and a lot of garages use them now)
My boss has one that he uses to start his large tractor with (he's never bothered fixing the charging on)

To be honest you won't go far wrong with the NOCO stuff (expensive BUT reliable hence why pros use it)

Trev probably bought his off a man on the market....
And it likely only had a PP3 battery inside it

So new battery ordered and mobile fitter fitting it and a Noco starter power pack ordered to carry for when I leave radio or lights on and flatten the new one hopefully that’s my electrical problem on the car sorted. 👍👍

To be honest I've used mine more to start other folks than I have mine (I'm the ONE that always gets a knock)

And frankly it's insurance that I hopefully not need it...
Though it's kept in the motorhome just in case.

If there so good why dont car makers fit as standard, I had to start a big jeep at school gates after one of those was tried, did not but click the solenoid, 10 mins with my van hooked up and all batteries switched in we got it to go, if and when I see a good one work then I may empty my pockets for one.

Why don't car makers fit solar panels/batteries that never need boosting?

Or built in 7 stage battery maintainers automatically looking after battery usage etc etc etc

There are many things that car makers could fit as standard Trev but they don't.

I can assure you these work, I have one and I have used it many times, usually on the kids vehicles!

I will look into it again rob, but I must say the 2/3 I have seen so far are ok on a just of the best battery but no good on a dead unit.
