Tyre pressure help please

Hi, does anyone know what the tyre pressure should be on an Elddis Sunseeker 400RL motor home? When we brought her last year I can remember them saying something about 80ish? There is nothing in our hand book either. Thanks in advance
 
Thanks *****, will be getting hubby to pump them up before our next weekender as I can see that they are low, he has been going by 60ish PSI but I've not been happy with it, much rather have a hard ride and feel safer than the soft, especialy as we always seem to have a full load, not yet figured out how to travel light! So 80 it will be

Hi Leltel, If you tell us the make of the tyres someone will come along and give you abit more info, if they are Mitchelin then you can contact them direct (theres a phone number somewhere on the sites, will have a search around for it) and they will give you the exact pressures for front and rear if you give them your axle weights.

Never thought about the make of them effecting the pressure! Will look at them tomorrow and post back. Oh and I'll check the size of them!
 
Get the van weighed (front and rear axle).
Call the tech support guys for the make of your tyres!

For instance, I jsut changed to Continental Vanco Winter 2 tyres, called Continental and they said for my weight 45psi/55psi front/rear. I'd have guessed at 50/55 so it was worth the ask.

Different tyres are made differently and may have different pressure requirements. FOr instance, the vanco have a higher load rating then the OEM ones it came with, hence different pressures.

Thank you all, looked on the tyres and they are Michelin X Radials with 80psi on them, so thats my answer! If it wasn't for you guys, we would never have thought to look on the tyres themselves

The 80psi marked on the tyres is almost certainly the maximum pressure it is safe to use. They can certainly, and probably should be, run at a much lower pressure than that.

Just when I thought I'd got it at last! Think I will email the company we brought her off to be on the safe side!

If your van is under 3.5 ton and is on a short wheelbase Boxer then you should probably be running at about 55 to 65 psi. There will be a plate somewhere on your van with the maximum axle weights. If you ask at a tyre shop, somebody should be able to tell you the approx. pressure. They would need to know what brand of tyre you have.

My last van was an Elddis short wheel base Boxer with a MAM of about 3.2 ton. I had 60 psi all round because it was usually right on its limit with all the stuff I carried. When I bought it from Brownhills, they had put 80 psi in the tyres and it was a death trap. If I ran over a matchstick, my fillings were shaken out of my teeth. :D
