Durdle door belongs to Lulworth estate
As this, AFAIK the parking is Lulworth Estate, not NT.
The parking mentioned at Studland is National Trust

Whilst Studland is mentioned the fees and conditions, plus talk of Durdle Door, appears to the Lulworth Estate, unless NT have identical fees and conditions.

Na Stone Heng is a rip £55 per family £23 pp and not allowed near the stones .
Stone Henge is English Heritage but the surrounding land is National Trust and I believe both cards can be used.

The NT was originally set up to buy and protect land and without it much of our coast would have been swallowed up and destroyed by development. The houses came along later and are as much a liability as an asset and usually need £millions spent on them. I am happy to support them, England wouldn’t look the same without them. Joining the NT and visiting their properties is voluntary so what is there to complain about.

My complaint is that there are huge numbers of people that cannot begin to afford to join the NT. It is very exclusive.
Also there are large chunks of the coast path and beaches that cannot be accessed as the only car parks are NT and too expensive. This impacts on many families with young children who cannot afford to take them anywhere else...it was set up for 'the public good'.

The NT is also not above preventing owners of larger vehicles from parking at some locations.

They are a Charity and have to fund and invest for future maintenance. Their all day car park charge of £8 is less than many other coastal car parks.

They have millions invested in fossil fuels and mining. It wouldn't make much of a dent to do concessions so that everyone could enjoy our heritage.

If they don’t invest for the future and pay for the upkeep there will be no heritage for anyone to enjoy. In July 2019 the National Trust stopped investing in fossil fuels and started divesting from them.

But having a reduced rate for those who cannot afford to go at all can only increase their footfall and therefore their profits.
And just because other car parks charge a lot doesn't make it ok for the NT to do the same imho

How do you assess and administer giving reduced rates? Parking charges are part of the cost of running a vehicle.

Other organisations manage it and many car parks are cheap or free especially in Scotland or France for that matter.
In receipt of universal credit or pension credit would seem fair.
Can't give it much thought, watching the tennis!!

Arrive very early and park for free roadside all day at the bottom of the hill in the village. This spot does fill up quickly. Bit of a walk back up the hill but you save £15.

The issue is though it is a gradient and fridges may not work. But I do see motorhomes parked in this area.

The £15 does give you all day parking until sunset so you can use your motorhome for cooking breakfast, lunch and evening meals and you have a bit of a view depending on where you are told to park. And you can plonk your chairs and other kit on the land in front of the car park and chill out. And easy access to public loos. So really you have to weigh up the pros and cons.
