Flat battery

Hi I haven’t started the Elddis 135 for 3 weeks but battery so flat I couldn’t even unlock the doors never mind put lights on or turn engine over. A friend put ithe battery on charge for 3 days with no difference. Wouldn’t jump start either. Has the battery been killed outright or am I missing something else ? Clean answers only please. Be kind. Thanks

Sounds like the battery is kaput, did you notice starting problems before the lock down?
 
3 weeks to a flat battery is quite short but not unknown, not being able to recharge after 3 weeks sounds odd, was something left on? Also did you check the voltage before trying again?
 
If a Battery is very dead, it is not unusual for some chargers to not be able to recharge it as they need the battery to be above a certain minimal level.

Before you write off the battery as unrecoverable, see if you can try another battery charger that can cope with really flat batteries.

You beat me to it Trev.

Alternatively run a wire from the Pos on the leisure battery to the Pos on the engine battery. If you are near me I have a couple charged up in the shed.

Think that was on OAL where someone removed and replaced the leisure battery from under the seat, whilst on a x250/290 the vehicle battery is under the floor.

My 'smart' battery charger will not charge a completely flat battery, I have to link a spare battery with jump leads to the flat battery then connect the charger, once it is charging I can remove the jump leads

Check the voltage on the battery.
It mite be to low to accept a charge from these new chargers.

If you can take it out and couple it up positive to positive, negative to negative and leave on charge for a few days.
You mite be lucky and it will recover.
If it's still dead then purchase the best you can afford as it will make a difference.

If your going to leave your van for any length of time in the future then make sure its fully charged and disconnect it from the van.
 
Prob is once they go to low even after a charge they will never be 100% and will die at first cold snap.

Absolutely right Trev, they never recover and for the price of a new battery it isn't worth the risk of waking up in the middle of nowhere with a flat battery
 
How old is the battery? Has it been flat before?
Maybe it's a case of end of serviceable life. I would work out a way of trickle charging battery and replacing it.
The plates could now be damaged and could be an on going problem.
 
Not got something connected to battery you have left on - you will knacker another battery if you have
