You can see into the roller if you extend it to the maximum you'll see if it has slipped on the roller I mean is it the same at both ends if it's center start to wind it in slowly and watching the fabric and you should be able to see when it starts to move over on the roller.

Hi yes, we have spent the last couple of months in Spain and Portugal parked up with the van at all sorts of angles before being kicked out !, but this weekend I actually got the levelling ramps out and for the first time ever, since we've owned it, it really is dead level!!( maybe that's the problem------umm), this was for the charity camp out. My immediate problem is that I am no longer physically able to do what used to be quite simple tasks and my head these days seems to be on a different planet and this is why I firstly asked for advice, then guidance and have now capitulated to accept that I need professional intervention. So, perhaps when all this kerfuffle is over one of my friends here will point me at a man who can.
Sorry, but thanks for your advice but there's only me that can work things and with a 8' thing I can't see both ends

Well having got completely brassed off I said blow it and I'll get an expert to fix it. So with nothing to do yesterday I read through the responses and was reminded that all the experts are here. So I started off with winding it out again and checking for detritus lodged in the workings, wound back, still the same, tried the crow bar, still nowt. So this afternoon I wound it right out and squirted oil into every visible moving metal part then commenced to rewind but it still tried to move over. So in desperation I wound it out fully and continued winding, thus the awning rewound only this time at the bottom rather than over the top of the roller, lo and behold it went back into place. Lucky I guess, but time will tell

Aargh well done, you sorted it, you should feel very proud, happy camping for your future, stay safe my friend in camping.
 
I had that problem with the first awning after two days I discovered I had wound it out to the end but when I wound it in wound it the wrong direction and the last bit will never lock in place
 
I managed to snap the end off the heater tie bar whilst trying to remove the nut in order to replace the seal, so fleabay here I come !! So I thought a good 2nd hand one would do, so I found this

Brand 'arry spankers, no contest, hopefully it should arrive in the next couple of days and I can nail it all back together. At this point I should give my thanks to Sue's (Yorklass) carer, David, for helping, ages ago, me to get it out, I only hope that I can remember the sequence that he told me for reassembly
