Advice on scooter loading and unloading from motorhome garage

There is no such thing Trev. The only thing that refers is body type (in other words, what it looks like) The only thing you could be prosecuted is on the use of a PHGV. Read up on that. Depending on interpretation, you can't do anything with it other that just drive it.. Even a Bus/Coach is not taxed if the passengers don't pay a fair!

I use to carry goods to and from auction in the MH on a regular basis, I was aware of the rules but refuse to have my life dictated to. There are probably reasons beyond the insurance aspect but whatever they are I fail to see why I cannot go to a DIY store in the MH to buy a 40 watt bayonet bulb for the house loo. Following the strict letter of the law you are prevented from doing just that!
Maybe I am a bit of a chancer, rather that than have Big Brother stick it's giant jack boot on my neck anymore than it does do anyway.

I would think everyone breaks the rules in some way or other Ral but the poster asked a question and got the answer lol.

I am much like you are but folks should know what is or isn’t right then decide rather than be told wrong.

on a tangent I am just renewing my insurance and see it now includes a bit that says they won’t pay out in the event of a fire caused by cooking or heating unless system was fitted by a Corgi or something else I hadn’t seen before. The insurance company’s really don’t know that much about the rules and regs regarding motorhomes do they lol

1000 metre cable would make an excellent zip way if you were in a hurry Ral.

You could climb out of the window, go down the zipway cable backwards and land on the Edgar Allan within seconds.

I don't mean how do you secure it once it's in. My question is what ramp are people using to get it in and out again. For example this ramp

I have one of the bits of alloy channel, it has a notch cut in one end to hook over the lip on body . Tie bolts on floor to fix scooter . No channel inside the van..
You can buy the wheel steady separate if you want and bolt that to the floor. It helps steady the scooter/ bike.
I have gone for a lightweight scooter even though I have 1.5 ton of payload..... bloody front wheel drive things get stuck on cats eyes

Tow dollys are elegal and have been for many years,unless it has a braking sys which works the towed car/van etc.

Just wondering what systems people are using and would recommend to load and unload a scooter from a garage. I know fiamma do a rack and integrated ramp but someone told me that the height of the rack when fitted to the floor of the garage makes it difficult to get the handlebars through the door. Any advice??

Honda PCX125 in mine
I fitted a Fiamma one in my first MoHo garage, you lose 2" of headroom with it but I had the room, but it has a short ramp that pulls out and if your garage is too high then the bike bottoms out when loading, wasn't impressed with it so it wasn't refitted in my present van. I wouldn't recommend fiamma.
So I bought a 1.5 metre fold in half ally ramp, loads on ebay, and bolted a front wheel chock in the van. A few load hooks bolted on the floor and ratchet strap it down. I've made a wooden block up that the side stand sits in so the bike is around vertical. Everything bolted to the garage floor goes through the steel garage mounting extension members, worked ok for 20,000 miles so far. Also use the same for my honda 600rr cbr race bike.
Have seen a wooden frame used to chock around the rear wheel once the bike is loaded, I've not done it but it will prevent the back wheel moving back n'forth, I normally have enough rubbish in there to stop it moving but I might try it if I' looking for a job one day.
