About Rimor

Rimor is an Italian motorhome manufacturer within the Trigano Group, producing a diverse range of motorhomes and van conversions spanning from entry-level to premium models. With over 40 years of Italian motorhome manufacturing heritage, Rimor combines Tuscan craftsmanship with Trigano Group purchasing power and distribution.

The range is built on Fiat Ducato and Renault Master platforms across multiple model families:

The Seal — Rimor's entry-level range on Fiat Ducato, available in both low-profile and overcab configurations. Competitive pricing with solid basic specification.

The Katamarano — Renault Master-based models offering an alternative base vehicle at accessible prices.

The Europeo — mid-range Fiat-based low-profile models with enhanced specification and Italian design flair.

The SuperBrig — Rimor's premium overcab range, offering the most comprehensive equipment in the coachbuilt lineup.

The Hygge — a newer addition reflecting contemporary styling and simplified design philosophy.

The Horus and Hera — Rimor's van conversion offerings for the growing campervan market.

Rimor has a strong reputation for providing generously berthed low-profiles and overcabs at reasonable prices, making it popular with families and value-conscious buyers across Europe.

Ownership history

Rimor was founded on 17th January 1978 by Luano Niccolai in Poggibonsi, Tuscany (near Siena). The company grew rapidly over its first two decades to become one of Italy's principal motorhome manufacturers, known for efficient production and practical, accessible motorhomes.

In 2004, private equity firm Barclays Private Equity acquired a 67% stake for €76 million. However, the company was severely hit by the 2008 economic crisis and entered bankruptcy proceedings. After a difficult period of restructuring, the Court of Siena approved a rescue plan in 2015.

The Trigano Group and the founding Niccolai family acquired Rimor's assets through a new company (Luano Camp srl, 60% Trigano / 40% Niccolai), taking on all 106 employees, inventory and the rights to produce under the Rimor, Kentucky and XGO brands.

Under Trigano ownership, Rimor has been revitalised with new model ranges and restored financial stability. The brand retains its completely Italian DNA and continues manufacturing in Tuscany, now backed by the resources of Europe's largest recreational vehicle group.

What Rimor is known for

Generous berth capacity at keen prices — Rimor excels at offering multiple-berth motorhomes (four to six berths) at competitive prices. Families and groups find exceptional value in the Seal and SuperBrig ranges.

Italian design heritage — over 40 years of Tuscan manufacturing brings Italian design sensibility to the motorhome market. Interiors feature contemporary Italian styling that feels fresh and modern.

Multi-platform availability — with models on both Fiat Ducato and Renault Master, Rimor gives buyers choice of base vehicle — an advantage for those with strong preferences.

Trigano Group backing — since 2015, Rimor benefits from Trigano's purchasing power, dealer network and parts supply chain while maintaining its Italian character and manufacturing base.

Comprehensive range — from compact van conversions to large overcab family motorhomes, Rimor covers virtually every requirement and budget level in a single brand.

Why people choose Rimor

If you need a family motorhome on a budget — Rimor's multi-berth models offer outstanding sleeping capacity relative to price. The overcab Seal and SuperBrig ranges accommodate large families at prices that undercut many four-berth competitors.

If you want Italian style at accessible prices — Rimor brings genuine Italian design to the budget and mid-range segments, offering a more contemporary aesthetic than many UK or German alternatives at comparable prices.

If you want a Renault Master base — the Katamarano range on Renault Master provides an alternative to the Fiat Ducato that dominates the market. Some buyers prefer the Renault for specific reasons of familiarity or dealer preference.

If you want Trigano Group support — the backing of Europe's largest RV group provides reassurance of parts availability, dealer support and manufacturer stability.

What to watch out for

Turbulent corporate history — the bankruptcy and restructuring process may have affected quality control during the transition period around 2010–2015. Check vehicles from this era with particular care.

Limited UK dealer presence — Rimor has fewer UK dealers than domestic brands, making servicing less convenient.

Budget-level build quality on entry models — the most affordable Rimor models are priced aggressively, and interior materials and fittings reflect this positioning.

Parts availability for pre-Trigano models — vehicles built during the financial difficulties may have components that are harder to source.

Less well-known than other Italian brands — Rimor has lower brand recognition in the UK than Adria or Roller Team, potentially affecting resale values.

What to check when buying a used Rimor

Identify the manufacturing era — models built during the 2010–2015 financial instability period warrant extra scrutiny. Post-2015 Trigano-era models benefit from restored quality control and parts support.

Check the base vehicle — on Fiat Ducato: cam belt, clutch, gearbox. On Renault Master: service history, turbo condition, timing chain tensioner.

Conduct thorough damp check — Italian-built motorhomes in UK climates need careful damp inspection. Check all walls, windows, doors and rooflights.

Test all systems — heating, water, fridge and electrical circuits through a complete cycle.

Check interior for wear — budget-specification fittings may show wear appropriate to age. Inspect hinges, worktops and upholstery.

Pre-purchase checklist
  • Identify vehicle manufacturing era relative to company history
  • Check if pre or post Trigano acquisition 2015
  • On Fiat check cam belt replacement history
  • On Renault check service history and turbo
  • Test clutch operation and gearbox condition
  • Conduct comprehensive damp check with meter
  • Check all window and door seals
  • Inspect around rooflights for water ingress
  • Test heating system to full temperature
  • Test water heater on gas and electric
  • Run fridge on both gas and electric
  • Test all 12V and 240V circuits
  • Check leisure battery condition
  • Inspect interior fittings for wear
  • Check cupboard hinges and mechanisms
  • Inspect upholstery condition
  • Verify habitation service history
  • Check current MOT and advisory history
  • Test drive for mechanical condition
  • Verify parts availability for specific model
Warranty advice

Rimor provides manufacturer warranty through the Trigano Group. Post-2015 models benefit from Trigano's established warranty support infrastructure. When buying used, verify warranty status and habitation service history.

An independent warranty backed by the RAC is recommended, particularly for pre-Trigano models where manufacturer support history may be unclear.

OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, providing essential peace of mind on a brand where corporate history makes warranty verification particularly important.

Dealer warranty

When buying a used Rimor, look for a dealer that offers an independent warranty backed by a provider like the RAC. This means your warranty remains valid even if the dealer ceases trading. OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, covering the average ownership period.
